Alright everyone, I need help. I realize some of you are going to judge me for this but I have never seen Star Wars.... any of them. My son (elem age) and I are starting them tomorrow, how shall we best view these? What order? What else do I need to know? Any and all tips are welcome. Thanks!

4 You could throw rogue 1 ahead of a new hope to get some more backstory
5 save the big surprise
1
2
3 I know people hate the prequels but they explain the backstory
6-9
Then go back and watch solo, though not really necessary

1. A New Hope
2. Empire Strikes Back
3. Return of the Jedi
4. Rogue One
5. Don't watch any of the other ones.

The machete method. I like this. Although, some people will leave out episode 1 and go right to episode 2. Maybe go back and watch this at the end of the saga.

Watching rogue one first is also a probability since it ends about minutes before episode 1 starts. Of the new movies, I think rogue one was the best.

My kids can’t sit through any Star Wars movie, except The Force Awakens. I would say go with The Force Awakens and if it’s a hit then go back and watch the original trilogy (A New Hope, Empire, Return of the Jedi).

Edit: There’s a viewing called “Machete Order” which is
4 (A New Hope)
5 (Empire Strikes Back)
2 (Attack of the Clones)
3 (Revenge of the Sith)
6 (Return of the Jedi)

This was before the latest movies. The idea behind this is that movies 4 & 5, part of the original trilogy, set up the prequels. Episode 1 (The Phantom Menace) is a decent film but a lot of the plot points are brought up in movies 2 & 3 which is why Ep 1 is omitted. You end with the climatic finale in episode 6 and then can roll into the newer films.

Make sure to get the original versions of 4, 5, 6. Don't bother with the terrible CGI added scenes.

Rogue One is awesome, but I wouldn’t watch it until at least 4, 5 and 6 are done.

Watch them by their original release. The old ones still hold up today. Your kids will love Jedi. It was my favorite as a kid but now A New Hope is my favorite.

1 - The Phantom Menace
2 - Attack of the Clones
3 - Revenge of the Sith
-Solo-
-Rogue One-
4 - A New Hope
5 - The Empire Strikes Back
6 - Return of the Jedi
7 - The Force Awakens
8 - The Last Jedi
9 - The Rise of Skywalker

Edit: Didn't mean for this post to be the recommended viewing order. The OP asked for the titles next to the number in a previous post.

Solo and Rogue One are Star Wars films that don't have numbers.

This seems to be a different opinion than most. Why would one go this route?
