Our biggest problem with Covid spread in the US might be people going to the bars, especially so many that are packed. I have no desire to go into a bar until there is a vaccine. That is one thing that should stay closed.

I think this is only partially true. Agree on college and pro $. But the pros can and will be isolated from most outside contact. Unless you want to quarantine all college athletes and not require classroom attendance, I think college is a much bigger problem than pro sports. Pros will be able to limit almost all contact to teammates, family and staff. Plus they have a huge personal financial stake in the outcomes - I think they will better obey common sense rules, unlike college kids and the American population in general.
Ha! You might want to ask Gunner though how one can think it's a good idea to let their wife go party out of state during a pandemic. Especially one of the hottest covid places in the country. But yet he's the one that gets mad if a guy is walking outside without a mask I'm sure.
Numbers of players make a difference too. College teams although not as talented would generally be 3-4 deep at most positions and NFL can pull up people from the practice squads.
NFL might look like a preseason game for much of the season but that's apparently what we want.
Basketball maybe have a short conference season if things have waned off by then. Of course, here we were thinking things would slow down in the summer, and, here we are.

I thought it would.
Not because it was going to die off or due to temps but less transmission with more time outside, and I was assuming people would be less likely to huddle in close quarters vs. the cooler months when we're indoors more. People have definitely been huddling together one way or another over the last month.
There really wasn't a 'wake up' call type of jolt for this nationally and it might unfortunately take more universal devastation for people to start being more cautious since they can't play the 'well yeah, but N.Y. has lots of close people' card.
I should have known better, being an ISU alumnus and a Minnesota resident for 40 years:
- Gophers haven't been relevant in football in decades.
- Cyclones haven't been relevant except for a couple of odd seasons here and there.
- The tide appears to truly be turning for both schools.
- 2020 outlook is/was optimistic.
- The football gods hate the Cyclones and the Gophers. With a fervor.
- One of the football gods is Pestilence. She only moonlights as a football god.
- All of the above leads me to conclude that the football gods are going to totally trash the entire season for everyone via Covid-19 if for no other reason than to **** Cy and Goldie.
No offense, @BoxsterCy , but could we possibly offer up the head coach of the Golden Gophers as a sacrifice to appease Pestilence? #ROWTHEBOAT
Yeah I've got a friend that I found out was out with his g/f at some bar about a month ago almost as soon as they opened up. It's not a need.
They are friends with a bartender there so I'd assume they used the 'we're supporting our friend' card but it's not like they couldn't just send him some money if that was their purpose.
What is happening should not be a surprise to anybody who cares to be informed. 100% predictable.
Well, I was thinking (hoping) back in April or May that we would be in a valley between waves by August. Sort of a 1918ish scenario. Was not optimistic about fall but was somewhat about late summer. But what we have is a rolling and waving plateau for summer, not a true valley. Maybe a plateau for summer is even optimistic thinking right now.
In February the remodelers for my master bath said they had an opening in March. I said nope. Counter, we have an opening in August? Well, that sounds good, maybe squeeze worker bees in my house between waves! Well, ****.

Behavior has changed though too. Extrapolate current behaviors back to March and April and it’s difficult to say what would’ve happened. I just don’t think you can summarily declare spring/summer have had “zero” effect. I was hoping for better though, just like you.
