2 ISU FB players have Coronavirus

The good thing is that we are talking about young and healthy individuals that will likely recover on their own with a 2 week isolation vs someone that is in a high risk category. Would be interesting to know if any were symptomatic, just seems crazy that at this point after all we have been through that with all the protocols in place to keep symptomatic people home that someone with symptoms would have been allowed into a facility.

One thing I have learned from this whole Covid mess is we all have probably been exposed to it at some point whether we know it or not. I have been working in an office this whole time where we now have had 8 confirmed cases (company is very transparent about communicating) since this started and had 1 last in the office as recent as earlier this month even though we basically sent a vast majority of the people to work from home back in late March. We still have some people that for 1 reason or another can't work from home or are contractors but its still crazy considering the building is as clean as I have ever seen it since I've worked there and we still have people that have come into the office that have tested positive. They disinfect all common areas and surfaces multiple times a day but it still boggles my mind how people still are getting the virus. Granted you can't account for their interactions outside of the work place either but it just goes to show that even with the precautions in place at ISU facilities you can't control what these athletes are doing when they are on their own time and possibly exposing themselves.

It's also easy to spot the sky is falling crowd. Who don't seem to think we will know a lot more in 30-60 days.

Also, I am confident President Wintersteen & Jamie Pollard will make decisions that are best for student athlete safety.

The AD must plan for sport seasons. After all, everything can be shutdown in hours. Who would have thought on Wednesday afternoon of Big12 Basketball Tournament that the ISU vs. OSU would end the season?

I hope not. Thousands more involved than the student athletes.

Well for the extreme majority of healthy, college aged athletes, that is exactly what happens. And in a lot of cases they are asymptomatic.

I have seen some of the studies where it can cause permanent lung damage, but do we know who’s at risk for that and what % of people it happens to? Not trying to argue, I really don’t know how likely it is for that to happen to a 18-22 year old.

I can only speak for the handful of players I train and have talked to this Spring, mainly from Notre Dame, Indiana, and Illinois, they are ready to get back to playing. They all agreed, they are more worried about head and neck injuries, not Covid. (Their words, not mine).

I’m sure there will be some players that opt to sit out until a vaccine or treatment is available, especially those with an underlying health condition.

Most people have not been exposed to it.

Maybe I should clarify by what I mean by exposure. Just by going to work or out in public you can possibly be exposed to the virus but doesn't mean you necessarily contracted it and had it yourself. For instance our healthcare workers are being exposed to it but doesn't mean they contracted it or have antibodies for it now. Just like any virus you can potentially have exposure to it but not contract it because for instance you regularly wash your hands or hand santize them regularly and killed it before it has a chance to infect you.

Interesting how the official from city or health department focus on athletic department angle.

Since May 31 weren't there also a number of nights during the last 10 days where a couple hundred people were protesting. Many same age group as student athletes.

You must remember the media narrative that Covid won't spread if you are doing innocent things like rioting. It only spreads when you are doing the things the general public enjoys, like sports, restaurants, gathering and such.

You know it is never not about money, but you have to also look at where does that money go? Well, most of it goes to feed, and educate student athletes, and pay coaches. So if we just get rid of all sports, athletes, etc than we should be good.
