Tyler Harris Commits to ISU.

Memphis vs Wichita State condensed game. This was their 2nd to last game of the year. Harris had 19 pts, 4 rbs, and 4 asts.

One of his best games.

Young, Conditt, and Foster better get used to rim running when Harris drives. Glad we’ll actually have a fairly long team with those three plus Johnson, Dubar (6”10” wingspan), Blackwell (7’2” wingspan).

He's lightning in a bottle any given night from what it looks like. Not sure what the opposite of the end of the spectrum looks like. But, Memphis ran him out there with 6'0" Alex Lomax, so I think the fears of having a tiny back court him/Rasir/Tre can be put to rest

And just landed a 4 star recruit that two years ago (people I'm sure including you)said he was crazy for taking a 3 star haliburton over a ready to commit Harris, haters gonna hate, but we just got the best of both worlds

It does not matter how many 4 stars he brings, he does not have the caliber to coach at this level. At best he is a great assistant coach who can bring in recruits. He is never going to win a regular season championship here or get past the sweet 16. I question if he can even make it to a dance again, but he may be aided with another weak big 12 .

So in other words, his ceiling is the same as all but 1 coach ISU has had in what, 50 years?

I understand the mediocrity mindset that has been built into the cyclone fan, but the Basketball program was on rise here before prohm, on the way to uncharted territories, dude came in and made sure to eliminate all that , destroyed even the Hilton magic.

when he leaves in 2025, this program will be in shambles , with no coming back, hope he is fired long before that , but the covid 19 made sure to eliminate all our reserves, so we will have to painfully watch him destroy this program year after year.

The "program" wasn't on the trajectory you claim because the coach responsible for said trajectory was looking for a way OUT as soon as he was hired.

Who do you hate more. Prohm or Tom Manning?

And THAT coach was a raging alcoholic who ruined the college experience for so many players and fans. Yeah - we NEED more of that! o_O

Not arguing about whether Prohm should be canned or not...but LE was great! That was my favorite 2 year run ever in following ISU hoops! LE certainly had some personal demons...but he didn't ruin the ISU MBB experience for any fan I knew! And I knew people who worked very closely with the program and they loved him! And the people I knew who worked with him said he treated them better than any coach they worked for/with! So...I still have fond memories of LE and ISU in that era...much better than the two coaches who followed...as for Prohm...jury is still out on him! I want to like him...but there are some big red flags showing up over the past three seasons!

Even if Fred stays, there is nothing that guarantees the program continues to ascend. Indeed, cracks in the foundation were showing in 2015, remembering...

-- they still could not play defense, which meant if they were not shooting well on a particular night, they were capable of losing to absolutely anybody

-- inexplicable losses to trash teams like South Carolina, Texas Tech, and (sorry that I have to say this) UAB that limited the ceiling for the team in the rankings

-- blowing winning the Big 12 regular season title when all they had to do was close out mediocre Baylor and Kansas State teams to accomplish it

-- various disciplinary problems... BDJ as a whole, the "frosted tips," it came off as a team that was arrogant and cocksure and not really locked in as needed

-- the transfer market was already becoming tighter, so not sure Fred could have kept mining that as efficiently as he had in previous spring recruiting cycles

Fred took the program from a dumpster fire to respectable and competitive, but going from 15-20th nationally to beating out the blue bloods routinely on the court and with recruiting (such as, say, Virginia has, to give an example) is a whole new thing. The level of competition at that ratified of air for college basketball is murderous. I kind of wonder if Fred was finding his peak in 2014 and 2015 given his strengths and weaknesses.

That being said, that was still a pretty fun era. I would be happy to return to that. But the people acting like Fred would have just kept winning 2-3 more games every year and advancing one more round in the NCAA tournament in a linear fashion like clockwork need to have their head examined. That is not how basketball works.

Thank god someone is here that does not accept mediocrity. I was afraid people were starting to think that mediocrity was acceptable.

But you’re here to set us all straight, mediocrity is not acceptable

Jesus.

Not sure it was a way out so much as a way up. People don’t take the NBA or pro sports in general as seriously in Iowa as the majority of the country does.

Cashing $61,000 game checks must have been pretty nice. I loved Fred in Ames, but I never fault somebody getting themselves paid like that.
