Myles Mendeszoon Commits! (will play LB)

I've got full trust in Campbell and Co. to evaluate talent.

With that said, gotta wonder if we are feeling the pinch a bit of Golesh leaving.

This staff has earned the benefit of the doubt when finding recruits that are under the radar. Good length for a LB

Georgetown offer must be smart
And Bucknell is no academic slouch. First thing I noticed was offers from those 2 schools and it told me he won't have any problem learning the playbook. Keep bringing in the boys with smarts and mold them into players that make us proud both on and off the field.

This guy will be solid in the rotation when he's a RS SO. Really good size and athleticism. Need two years to beef up and learn football.

Matt Campbell recruits what he can't teach like a motor, is smart and tangibles like size and athleticism. No sense in recruiting a polished player that can't run well; they won't get better.

True but it is a bit concerning to see the lack of offers for many of our recruits this year. We don’t want the ratio of projects to recruits that other P5 programs want to get too out of whack. I think we can do a good job of finding hidden gems but we sure don’t want a whole class of them.

LOL! I knew full well the moment that I saw elsewhere that this kid had committed, that there would be people whining about his “starz and offerz”. Good grief, just look at his video. He’s athletic, he has a nose for the ball, and you can see his determination. I’m going to suggest that some of you should just admit your ignorance, and stop demeaning innocent kids, Cyclone football recruits, on public message boards. Um, I’m not sure how to do that tactfully, so I won’t.

Myles’ hometown is in the middle of nowhere. At 5K population, Chardon is the county seat. I’m giving Matt Campbell & Co credit for finding this kid. Watch Mendeszoon’s rating go zoom!

Going to point out that Campbell and his staff were all over another nationally unknown kid a couple of years ago, getting him onto campus several times—before he blew up. Here is how that turned out:

They do that kind of thing with great regularity. That's just a clear representation.

Now, back to Ohio linebackers.

I’d been keeping an eye on Myles since he was offered. They offered this kid, Carston Marshall, about the same time. He’s similarly unnoticed, and I’m guessing that people here would complain about his lack of recruiting notoriety as well. However, if you take a look at his video as well, I’d cheerfully take him as the third linebacker of this class.

Okay, a middle linebacker has to come somewhere in this class. Still would take him.

I don't think it's the stars that bother folks here, as guys do get overlooked by the services that provide the rankings, particularly guys from small towns. The fact that no programs between Bucknell/Georgetown and Iowa State offered is a concern. It's not like getting a guy with a bunch of MAC or Sun Belt offers.

Here's where Georgetown plays.

Two of the biggest freak athletes in the current NFL Draft went to the football powerhouses of Lenoir-Rhyne and Southern Illinois. This staff tries to identify that kind of kid before they slip through the cracks.

It's really not even that. It's great to find these under the radar kids that can really play, but almost every commit in this class has very few offers. That is a bit concerning.

For those freaking out about offers, remember, we're in a new time. Most of these kids haven't gotten to do camps to get more offers. That's the benefit of this staff, they go after what they believe is the best fit for the program regardless of other offers. If you're worried about stars and offers, then you likely don't understand what Campbell means by "The Process".

One of the guys highest on the board for the cyclones last year was Teagan Wilk

His offers were terrible when ISU offered. He ended up going to ECU.

I haven't seen his senior tape, but his Junior tape is some of the best I've seen out of a 3 star level prospect.

That would be reasonable if overall level of offers was down. But teams have as many offers out as they ever have. If you look at either other teams this year or our commits the last few years, you’ll see our current commits have very few P5 offers.

I dint mind low stars but when his other offers are terrible and a lot of recruits this cycle have terrible offers it makes me think of CPR recruits. Hope they are better than their offer list

He hasn't played his Sr Year yet...
