I didn’t realize his mom passed away and that was a large reason he transferred from Marquette. For all the big egos in the NBA, Deonte seems to be about as down to earth as you can be.

Thanks for sharing this. I hope he has a long career. One of the most humble guys we've had considering how well he played for us. That Purdue game is legendary. I wish we could have pulled that off.

That game was so crazy. We were sitting in the stadium and the game got pulled off the board in Vegas. There conjecture that Steve had headed to Ames to be with wife having baby. Then somebody said swanigan got hurt etc.
Then it was just so disappointing then to get that close....
Alas, I doubt he's long for the NBA, at least in this go-around. I wonder if he'll have to go overseas for his next gig. Tough year with OKC. He's such a good guy, from what I've seen. I hope I'm wrong.
I think you are right, I just really hope he can make a longer career of it. Everything I've seen about him says he is a really great person, and very mature.
Deonte has been one of our family's favorite players. He was in town playing with the Blue and we waited to talk to him after the game. I was impressed with how he talked to our kids and asked them questions about themselves. We talked a bit about his time in playing overseas and he shared some fun experiences he had. A really nice guy to have a conversation with.
