Terrence Lewis transferring

Using BPM - Terrence Lewis was the 26th rated available transfer on the market per Barttorvik, DeJulius is rated 24th.

Using PRPG - Lewis was 26th, DeJulius is 22nd.

Torvik is using PRPG! not BPM to rank guys.

The rest of your points (about the rankings) are correct.

I mean he's at South Alabama for a reason lol. Ballard sucks
That doesn’t change that he’d be in the running for major playing time here.

I mean, FAMU has players that suck too, and we lost to them. Will Jackson reach double figures much more than 9 times?

Btw Ballard was recruited by Riley when he was an assistant at Clemson.

I guess I'm confused by your post, I quoted his PRPG ranking as well.

I think I read your post as "PPG" instead of PRPG! -- oops, my bad. I guess I did not see the exclamation point there and just read it wrong.

Anyways, your basic point is taken. DDJ does not make a tremendous case for himself based on those analytics relative to Terrence Lewis.

I suppose the difference comes down to DDJ being stuck behind one of the best PGs in the country and not being an embarrassment defensely.

I never doubted that T-Lew could score. He just did not do anything else.

I'm not sure what you're trying to do here

Taking a horse to water!

That’s a good low major backcourt. You can say Ballard sucks, but he’s not far off from guys on our Big 12 roster. Hence, I’m glad we don’t play them in the nonconference. FAMU is a stain not washed off by 12-20 and one offseason.

Is our program really in such bad shape that those remarks have you insecure?

Could you imagine this board if we had to beat out South Alabama for a transfer? Also no clue what FAMU has to do with anything. It's not like they were better or more talented than us

Is that why he was committed to South Dakota State before we got him? I’m surprised Prohm took him and I’m surprised TJ is taking him.

The coach who was just in the national championship game offered Grill. He was a legit recruit. Unfortunately, it just didn't work our for him in Ames.

So the best opportunity we have is someone who is slightly better than our last guy off the bench last year? and then we would sign another 3 players who would have to be below that level?

Terrence was also a legit recruit. I’m really not that upset to lose either guy though to be honest. TLew only had 1 year left and at best would give us 6-8 PPG. Could have been higher but his weakness on defense would always prevent him being on the court long enough to average more. As for Grill, I never saw him becoming a legit difference maker because of his ball handling ability. He looked scared when he had to dribble. Good athlete and could be a solid shooter but I’m glad we have those scholarships open.

Grill at least had high major interest and potential
Are you saying Lewis, Griffin didnt have potential when they arrived? I believe both were top 100 players. I would say there is definitely a player development issue at the least...and grill was awful. I think he hit more 3s with a broken wrist then without one

Of course they did. Grill was the only one people wanted in the portal though

It’s more common than you think, and not just for ISU. It’s kind of like the draft. If scouting and developing were as easy as you believe, there would never be a draft bust. The HOF picks would go #1 every year.

He was a freshman. You must not remember Naz as a freshman. Woof. Who was it that said that the best thing about freshman is that they become sophomores?

My concern about Terrence Lewis came when we were eating breakfast in Milwaukee at a George Webb the day of the tournament game. I started talking to this guy who was a local and seemed to have a handle on Milwaukee high school hoops. I asked him what he thought of Terrence and he said he is ok but needs a ton of fundamental work. So none of this comes as a surprise to me. My son who was 13-14 at the time even picked up on it.

Just because one guy wasn’t great as a FR that doesn’t mean it applies to other freshman. Naz was also on a good team. Grill was not on a good team. I don’t get the fascination with Grill on why everyone always wanted to compare him to Naz or Thomas. Freshman or not, it’s going to take a few years to ever fix his ball handling. Worst I’ve ever seen out of a guard. There wasn’t a single moment all year where he took more than 3 dribbles. Even taking less than 3, it looked like he was scared and he practically carried it every time.
