Looked into repairing the ice dispenser again tonight. Only to become infuriated that the assembly that I need to replace can't be bought. Should have known this would be the case 24 hours after trying to repair/replace a power outlet that wasn't working only to run into more problems.

When you get your new fridge make sure it has the clear door and the electronic pad you can put your grocery list on.:D:rolleyes:

What brand of fridge? I had to replace my ice dispenser last fall and was able to order the replacement part on Amazon. Sometimes you need to get the whole assembly instead of the actual defective part, but I've had pretty good luck finding appliance parts on there. I've fixed my Samsung washer and dryer, Maytag fridge and microwave and Whirlpool dishwasher with parts from Amazon.

I didn't think about Amazon but not finding much luck there. I am perfectly fine wit buying the assembly as it is a mechanical issue. It is a Kenmore. The prices of some of this stuff is insane though...

If you know the part number try typing that into the search bar. I've also found prices on Amazon have also been cheaper than anywhere else and sometimes shipping is covered with Prime.

I need to dig into it more but thus far the only helpful thing I have found is the schematic which names each individual part but not an assy pn.

Spied first outdoor flying insect of the year. Just saw a fly buzzing around my snow covered deck. It's 36 degrees and the wind is gusting 25 mph. He might not be showing the best judgement in dropping out of hibernation.

Searspartsdirect could help. It's been useful for me in the past.

That is where I started. I want pretty much everything on the left side of the motor and ice container diagram but from what I can tell they just sell individual parts and not the whole assy.

We have a maintenance contract on the fridge with our gas company. A utility company may be able to help. Our ice maker repairs are covered under the plan but I believe (from what neighbors say) having them fix it would cost less than $200. You'd probably want to make sure that they could repair that particular fridge though. Also, you may be far enough into the project that you don't want to call for help.

Hey, that's 804 North Grand! Was big party house in 1972-73 or so. Every Dana House buddy of mine would know what I was talking about if I said to them "804 Grand".
