Testifying
Sounds eerily similar to the Phil Hartman and children situation. Prayers up to that family.

That’s some weird ****. What’s the motive? Taking everyone to heaven with him? Gotta be be something big to make him snap. Sad sad deal.

Probably infidelity or as was stated something to do with his family image. To drive to kill his daughter at college, that is some dedication. You would think there would be enough time to think otherwise if he was just acting in pure rage. Strange indeed.

The level of darkness here is awful. Kinda wish he wouldn’t of killed himself in order to be able to answer the questions people needed to have proper closure. Then hung himself in his cell.

There is no motive, the guy must have been a dumbass.
Don't think he killed his wife and kid and then drove that far to try to kill his other kid just because he's a dumbass. Might not be a motive that makes sense to sane people but there was definitely a motive.

I have an ex-wife that I worried about this happening. I'm 100% serious. Mental issues. Thank god it only turned into self-destructive behavior but I've see a lot of ****. Nothing close to this...devastating.

How one can have faith in a god after this is beyond me. Is god an *******? You decide.

Most of us would give our own lives to save our kids so anyone that could take the life of their own child has to have serious mental health issues.
The reality of somebody with mental issues is different than ours. It's hard to explain but you can warp your brain to "understand" why they do things. In this case, I wouldn't even try to understand but there is likely an explanation that made perfect sense to the guy. Please don't think I'm defending him. He may just be evil.

Yeah something may come out about what instigated this but it still won’t explain the totally irrational behavior. I just keep thinking about what the daughter has to be going through. Having your dad try to choke you to death and than kill himself, and than find out he already killed your mother and brother. My god she’s going to need some massive mental health counseling.

Her life is ruined. Literally. I don't know how you function after this. It's beyond my worst nightmare.

I can't imagine the survivor's guilt she's experiencing right now. Hope she gets some good counseling and support from remaining family & friends.

What a horrible situation.

I can't help but deepy feel for their surviving daughter....the trauma she experienced as her own dad tried to choke her out, leave, and then find out not only he kills himself but also your brother and mom.

I also cant imagine the challenge her and others will have at the memorial. It appears all three family are part of the service.

Remember a few years back when that guy by Iowa City killed his family then drove into a bridge? I remember the faith community struggling with how to navigate that grieving.
