Beyonce has built an entire career (from Destiny's Child through solo) on breakup/heartache songs. It's sort of amazing.

- Irreplaceable
- Single Ladies
- If I Were A Boy
- Ring the Alarm
- Don't Hurt Yourself (really most of the Lemonade album)
- Survivor
- Girl

There are about a dozen others, I just can't think of them offhand.

Go ahead and file this one in the not suitable for work category.

Also, this song essentially a rewrite of the children's song "The cat came back" that was written in 1893.

Here is one of the many versions of that song. And after actually watching this it's not the most child friendly version. At least for the children of today.

I'm a big Mountain Goats fan. Great song. Seeing them at the M-Shop would have been amazing...

I think it was 2004 or so. It was awesome. The two friends I had convinced to go hated it and left.

I saw them at The Empty Bottle in Chicago in 2005. I have the best memories of that one, cause I got home from my internship on a Friday, took a nap, popped a red bull, and then made my way out to Ukrainian Village. I was 21 or so and it was the first time I'd really spent time outside of Iowa.

I went to go see them at the Gothic Theater in Denver a few years ago and the gf didn't like it and we both left. It's hard for a venue like that to compete with the M-shop or Empty Bottle.

I think St. Vincent has, like, four songs about breakup, but "New York" is probably the best known.

if St. Vincent has 4, how many does Ryan Adams have? He is still on probation at my house, so I've not looked.
