What is everyone paying per week for day care costs?

We're getting things, try anyway, lined up for day care when our little one comes. We are trying to secure a spot for an in-home daycare for our infant. The local daycare center is our back-up plan in case we can't get an in-home.
Daycare center = $240
In-home: one was $150 and the other is $185.

Looking to see what others are paying so I can get a sense of the range in the metro area.

Holy crap,.... those are cheap prices.
Up here in the Twin Cities you are looking at $300+ a week for a center and about $225 per week for in home.
I should have stayed in Iowa.

When we shopped daycare centers in the Ankeny area, going rate was in the $270-300 a week range.

Yeah I've seen anywhere between 250 to 350 around Des Moines.
I think Cadence was the most expensive I saw.

We pay $575.75 a week for two kids at a center in downtown DSM. We have an infant, so he costs more than his older sibling. Prices drop on every birthday, it gets a bit cheaper as the ratio staffing needs change. We realize we are paying A LOT, but it was worth it for us as we felt like 1) our kids were safe there, 2) the curriculum was well-developed, and 3) this particular center is affiliated with a hospital so they offer more flexible hours and are almost never closed due to weather/holidays. They have the added bonus of kids being FT at 3 days a week, so you are guaranteed care 5 days a week, but you only pay for 3 days a week if that's all you need in a particular week. If I know ahead that I'm going to be off, or one of the grandparents wants to take a day, I don't schedule the kids and save some money.

All are still way cheaper than college. Just wait.

ISU in state or out of state? because I'll never have it less expensive than in-state unless we go part-time and as an infant/toddler I'm at or above out of state.

TRowe has current annual ISU cost and all expenses @18.5k
If you put in say 1 week of daycare @ 250 a month into a 529 @ 6% return, you'll fund 2.5 out of their 4 years.

Our daughter was 4 when our son was born. We had them both in a center. We paid almost 2100 a month for both. Infant care was 1200 and a four year old was 900. Thankfully we only had to do it for a year. The center was great, but I do not miss writing that check every month. We were lucky that our kids were both planned, so the cost wasn't a surprise, and we were able to be prepared financially. Still, by the time all is said and done, we will have spent over 100,000 total on daycare.

I'm going to make sure to get that figure tattooed on my lower back, so when I'm old and senile, they'll be reminded of it every time they clean me up after I **** myself.

I put three kids thru Drake. Enough said. Save your spare change.

And no one also said you had to put your kids through college. My parents helped a fair amount, but I also applied for every scholarship I could, worked on paid internships/summer jobs and had cattle as well. My wife had zero support from her parents, which she worked her butt off through college. She had her loans paid off 4-5 years out of college.

I applaud you for helping them, but I also don't feel it should be completely paid for, what does that exactly teach them?

Trust me. I’m writing 21k in checks for a non engineer in state. I wish it was 18.5.

I paid my way and it sucked. Me paying for my kids college and letting them keep their money tells them that parents sacrifice for their kids to help them out. I would rather have them studying and enjoying college than taking the 17-18 and working 40 hours a week like I did.

I know everyone's different but I am not paying a full ride for my kids. My parents didn't for their's.
