There’s one sitting in the climate controlled barn at my grandmas house. We’ve got it going a few times and every time the steering column ends up crapping out.
The steering column or the power steering pump?
what mid 70s-early 80s truck wasn't?? lol these were farm/work vehicles still mostly. My experience is that they are pretty poorly constructed, and archaic in design. What are you wanting to do with said truck?
Does anyone have expertise with the late 80's Ram Truck? If so, what were the +/-'s of the truck?
OhioIf that truck has been in Iowa all its life...wow.
Looking for a solid work truck for the day-to-day tasks on our "hobby" farm.My experience is that they are pretty poorly constructed, and archaic in design. What are you wanting to do with said truck?

I'm more interested in the tires in the front yard. I'm assuming they're still there.
Find out what the truck's name is. Trucks of that era like to be called by their first name.Thought of a couple other things.
Find out what the magic combination is to get it to start on a cold day. We had an old truck on the farm you had to pump the gas 3 times before turning the key. Different one you had to hold the gas pedal a 1/3 down and another you just floored it. Every truck from that era is different.
Speaking of breaking down, you will need to find a good parts store.Find out what the truck's name is. Trucks of that era like to be called by their first name.
Biggest bonus to this is it looks like you are just talking to you truck instead of yourself when you are saying your starting ritual prayer or cussing at it when it breaks down.
