***Official ISU Bowl Predictions***

I'm assuming all those predictions are coming with an ISU loss to K State.

We really control our own destiny here... win and we finish 3rd outright, lose and we could fall all the way to 6th
Exactly. If we lose to K-State, there will probably be a 4-team logjam, and any bowl is in play. If we win, we will most likely be tied for 3rd place with T. Boone Pickens State, who just lost their starting QB.

If OSU loses and ISU wins next week, ISU finishes ahead of them.

Our overall record would be tied with them but we finish 6-3 in conference to their 5-4

You guys are right - if we win, and OSU (most likely loses to Oklahoma) we are in sole possession of 3rd. If we lose, though, there would be 3, probably 4 teams at 5-4. And the bowl games would be a crap shoot.

The Big 12's rule is that the loser of the CCG goes to the Sugar Bowl if the winner is in the playoff.

I don't see reference to that in the Big 12 explanation (it's possible I'm missing it). Has this situation come up before for the Big 12?

Additional Big 12 Teams in the CFP
If a Big 12 team(s) is rated in the top four of the CFP, it will play in one of the semifinals. This does not affect the Big 12 designee being placed in a CFP New Year's Bowl if it is not one of the top four teams. There is not a limit on the number of teams from one conference that can be placed in CFP bowls. Additional Big 12 teams may be selected for other CFP New Year's bowls based on their ranking in the final CFP Poll.

Yes last year. OU went to the playoff and Texas went to the Sugar Bowl to play UGA

No I'm saying another team ended up ranked higher than the team that loses in the Big 12 Championship game and also the winner of the Championship game goes to the Playoffs.

I'm not sure what you are saying.

The Big 12 has a contract with the Sugar Bowl so they will have a team in there no matter what. If somehow OU makes the Playoff (this isn't happening so we can quit entertaining it) and can't fulfill the Sugar Bowl obligation then Baylor would be in the Sugar Bowl.

There will NOT be a non Big 12 Team take the Big 12's spot in the Sugar Bowl.

I disagree.

1- Bowls aren’t picking based on standings
2- ISU was there last year and bowls would prefer to not repeat. It’$ make$ more $en$e to get teams who haven’t been there recently and are more likely to go with full travel numbers.
3- With UT, TCU, and OSU available I think they’d pick a more local team. Last year BU & TCU barely got bowl eligible and they picked a much better team. If UT beats Tech and two teams make the NY6 I expect UT to get the Alamo.

4- In that scenario it’s ISU Vs ND in Orlando imo

San Antonio is a tourist town. Iowa State people spent 54 million dollars the week they were down here.

that is a huge damn deal

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say if OU wins out and Oregon beats Utah in the Pac 12 title game OU is in.

The question is if a team that isn't in the Championship game (ISU or OSU this year) ends the year ranked higher than the loser of the Championship game (Baylor), who fills the Sugar Bowl.

And I was asking if that situation had ever happened in a year when a Big 12 team went to the CFP Semifinals.

Im not sure if the rules have changed but in 2015 OU got in the CFP and TCU at #11 went to the alamo and OSU at #16 went to the sugar bowl

Here's where the Big 12 Sugar Bowl selection process differs from that of the SEC. Instead of using the CFP rankings to pick the next highest team, they use Big 12 tiebreaker procedures.

Which is all well and good, but that was from 2015 -- before the CCG was restarted. That year, they used HTH between OSU and TCU to determine who was #2 in the conference. With the CCG, the #2 team is already decided because they're in the championship game.

I was responding to a question about that year. I wasn't implying anything in regards to this year.
