Notes from various people on twitter:

If season started today, starters would be Scott (duh), Joens (duh), Wise (duh), Camber (I wonder if we might see a breakout year from her), and PG by committee. Espenmiller-McGraw might actually be the starter at PG except she's been fighting the flu recently. Apparently she's been doing really well in practice.

Fennelly specifically mentioned Jade Thurmon as someone who has been practicing great so far. This team has a completely different look if she's playing.

I'm hoping Camber has a great senior year, she's had a few moments over her career but never a consistancy over multiple games.

There were posts last season of a breakout season for Camber. Kept waiting and it was flashes, but not a consistent level of play. Wishes for her to have a great season, gotta love the kid.

With the players we lost, I'm guessing she'll get more consistent playing time this year. That should help a lot.

Last year one thing Camber brought was her motor. She always went full tilt. At the end of the season Thurmon was showing some moments where she looked like she really belonged. I also have full confidence there are young players that will play as big a role as Joens did last year...except this year we have several who will do it.

The point guard by committee worries me a little. Not worried that we don't have any, we do. Just hope they pick one to play the majority of the minutes to start the season. If they get beat out, so be it but I am hoping not to see three PG's rotating in and out each time one of them makes a mistake. I won't mind seeing Johnson start the season. If they want to get Scott off to a good start she's your best option IMHO. She is good at feeding the post.

I think Scott should start the season. In my opinion, at some point this year, McGraw will become the starter at the point. Now, how long it takes to happen is anyone guess. I do agree that BF must not rotate a bunch of kids and pull someone when a mistake is made. if he does that, it will only shatter multiple kids confidence and hurt the team.

Reading some articles from media day, it sounds like Bill said Thurmon might actually primarily see time at SG instead of PG. I think that makes sense considering her issues with turnovers and her great scoring ability.

On Sunday, Jade did seem more in control of her speed and handling than she did last year. I think that is a definite plus for her (and the program). She's still quick, but more disciplined in her approach to moving around the court. Definitely saw big improvements there.

He has used this "by committee" phrase before, and he usually always settles on someone for the core amount of minutes. He probably has more depth than ever, which given he likes a 7/8 person rotation versus others who will play 10-11, is interesting challenge for him. He likes to get the best 5 players on the floor and go with it as the core.

I like Rae, but it did seem like in his comments she needs to put in more effort if she didn't want to get beat out by a freshman.

Haven't read any mention of Maddie Frederick or Morgan Kane. I thought the reason they redshirted was because they would have had trouble finding playing time behind Burkhall and Carlton, but we still wanted them for 4 years as they were that good. Any updates?

I haven't seen mention of Frederick, but I read in one article (might have been the CF one) that Fennelly expects Kane to take over Burkhall's spot in the post rotation.

EDIT: It was the Register. https://www.desmoinesregister.com/s...w-adriana-camber-bridget-carleton/3897263002/

Espenmiller-McGraw isn't the only freshman expected to play a prominent role this season. Fennelly said redshirt freshman Morgan Kane will have a role. Kane, a 6-foot-3 forward, could have a role a lot like Meredith Burkhall's last season. Burkhall, who mostly came off the bench, provided depth and energy in the post.

"The 10 to 12 minute a game player," Fennelly said. "Mo could to that."

Fennelly said that freshman forward Gabby McBride had some work done on her knee that could impact her playing time in the early stages of the season. He didn't expect to have to redshirt her, though.

Thanks for the quoting. I can't really open DSM Register site, it nearly locks my browser up with all of it's loading and ads and cookies. Does it in Chrome and Firefox. Same thing for USA Today and CBS Sports. Everything else runs/loads just fine.
