NBA: ***Official 2019 NBA Playoffs Thread***

Brutal shooting for Kyrie in this series. Playing like a Knick already I guess.

Big changes maybe coming for Boston.

Potential unrestricted free agents - Horford, Kyrie, and Aron Baynes
Unrestricted free agents - Marcus Morris, Terry Rozier

That's over half of their normal rotation that could be gone this summer - more if Tatum or Brown gets moved in a deal for AD.

KD's injury looks to be more than a Calf Strain. However, taking the Warriors medical staff at their word muscle strains like ligament sprains depend on the Grade of the injury. Grade II is the most common Calf Strain and that will be 6 weeks, Grade III 3 plus months. Even if it is Grade I it will be 7-10 days.

At min KD is done for series, more likely done for the playoffs. But I have a feeling this could be more serious

I like KD as a player and person but if he is hurt it's almost like a hypothetical if the world champion warriors hadn't added maybe the best player in the world to their already world championship roster.

It'd be like if the Lakers had added Bird in the 80s or the Celtics had added Magic with no significant roster losses. Not nearly as fun.

Not cheering for GSW but part of me kind of would be cheering to see if they could get another title without the KD addition.

I think maybe they were victims of their own success being so ahead of schedule the past few years.

No doubt people will be reading the tea leaves on this one. If he isn't back in a week (assuming the Warriors win the series, which is no guarantee now) then everyone will assume he's gone in free agency. He has every reason to be careful with this injury and not risk making it worse.

It's crazy how quick Boston and Philly's seemingly long title contending windows have closed over the last several months. It's not entirely crazy to think the Nets could come out of this summer in a better long term position than Boston after trading them all of those picks in the KG-Pierce deal.

Maybe. I think they had a tough time dealing with the expectations placed on them before the season started. It's really the first time Brad Stevens had a fully healthy roster to work with, and the chemistry was never any good. You can blame a good portion of it on Kyrie. He used up a lot of oxygen in that offense, and I think he was a disruptive figure in the locker room. But Hayward wasn't the same guy all year and Tatum and Brown are still young guys figuring it out. Kyrie is super talented but if he opts out and goes elsewhere I think it might ultimately be addition by subtraction for the Celtics.

The Nets and the Clippers could dramatically rise.

What are the Nets rumors? Try to stay in the loop on NBA as much as I can but haven't heard anything on them getting so much better. I know a lot of people think Kawhi to Clips. I kinda wish he'd stay in Toronto. They are a fun team

Kyrie is a super talented basketball player but he takes away a lot of flexibility on both ends. He has to be a ball dominant guard, that takes away a lot of touches from Tatum and Brown and obviously a ton of minutes from Rozier. He also limits what you can do defensively. Teams hunt him, you can't switch him on a lot of guys without kicking off a scramble of rotations to cover up for it. Not to mention his personality doesn't seem to be what you're looking for as the leader of the team.

Agree with all of that. Sounds like Kyrie is looking at the Nets.

The latest I’ve heard is there is a decent chance Kawhi still stays in Toronto. Not saying it will happen but not ruled out.

Yeah. I like him more as a sidekick then as the go-to guy.

Things may have just gotten turned upside down if KD is out.

Warriors are going to need a turn back the clock game from Iggy and Livingston in Game 6. It's those two, Steph, Klay, Draymond, and not much else on the roster now. Anyone gets injured or finds themselves in foul trouble, they are ******.

They were awesome after Game 1. What a machine, and they defend like nobody's business. Anyone who says they don't play defense in the NBA ought to watch what the Bucks are doing. They squeezed the life out of Boston in the half court.

Budenholzer earned his COY award. Getting them to buy in on playing hard defense has really paid off. No true big man, and yet they were the #1 rebounding team in the league.

And you can have Irving. Poster child for hero ball.

I mean, having an MVP candidate/freak athlete certainly helps. But yeah, Budenholzer has done a nice job there. He's getting all the mileage he can from the roster he has.

Even if they get past the Warriors, and Durant is out, you have to wonder how long Iggy can hold up playing 40 mins a game at his age.

Well they do have a true big man, he just happens to have turned into a 3-point specialist on the other end.
