I said 3, you’re only off by 33%. I do think he could have done better tonight, but this is a team full of selfish players and I’m not sure there’s anything he hasn’t tried behind the scenes.

Maybe try to recruit unselfish players?

Dude is lucky to be employed at Iowa State. A raise....whew. Tough sell.

Check later in the thread.

Regardless, you tell me what coach has more PROVEN recruiting skills, more Top 25 wins and WANTS to be in Ames? I’m not going to wait up as any change would be incredibly highly risky.

I think Prohm is a pretty good coach. Dealt with some off-court distractions this year with some players. I think ISU would be best served with a couple guys leaving campus and bringing in some 4 year recruits.

I will throw up in my mouth if ISU gives Prohm $4M a year before Campbell. I hope you didn’t say that.

To add, stats on that:

Hoiberg still looks slightly better overall, imo, but as we can see we could do a lot worse.

The guy took over a completely bare recruiting cupboard, has some of the best recruiting classes in our history lined up, has taken us to 3 dances and has 2 of our school’s 5 tourney championships to his credit. But by all means, run him off so we can start over once again.

Some of you have forgotten where we came from and how damn competitive this sport is nowadays. It’s no wonder people nationally say coaches want out of Ames; the most passionate fans in the country appear to be turning a bit too entitled.

I can’t blame Hoibetg from running away and if you don’t start being careful, Prohm and Campbell will shortly follow.

It’s one thing to be disappointed, it’s ridiculous to personally attack the guy trying his hardest to get 18-20 year olds to not be selfish.

I hope Prohm is Iowa States coach for a long time but if he plays the game to try and get a raise after this season I would tell him best of luck elsewhere.

Dana Altman is paid 2.8 million at Oregon. I’m sorry CSP certainly needs to be bumped in pay, but if you pay him over 3.0 million he becomes a Top 20 paid coach in the college ranks. Do you think he is a Top 20 coach in America? Maybe Top 35 (which is 2.5 million) but not Top 20.

Jeremy, I love you and I agree with a lot of what you say, but the same things were said about Rhoads... and then JP brought Matt Campbell in.

I continue to stand by my "neutral" position in regards to Prohm's job, but I'm sorry, the "we can't do better" opinion doesn't fly.

There is a difference between saying he should go to Alabama and questioning whether we need to make him a Top 20 coach in America.

Solid recruiting class, finished middle of the pack in the Big 12, lost the team mid way through the year and lost to a bad Ohio State team.

I respect this opinion. However, I just don’t feel he earned a pay raise after this year. His job is to make all these recruits work together, and he didn’t make it happen. It’s fine, but it’s not worthy of a pay raise. The expectation is NCAA tourney with a team like this, which they did, but I would say it “met expectations”. You know what you get for meeting expectations in the real world? Cost of living increase 3.5%

He took over a team at arguably the height of iowa state basketball with a team that could coach itself. Getting good recruits doesnt mean you are a good basketball coach. Im sure all basketball coaches are trying their "hardest" to win so what does that even have to do with anything?

Don’t forget he let the team run the show in his first season and then tried to coach them in his second season. The season of “team meetings.” His first year he had a 5 current NBA players on it. A three point ace who is starring in Europe and the reigning big 12 defensive player of the year and couldn’t do jack **** with that talent.
