Heacock is so good

Yeah, I should have written that better. It cracks me up that people think he’ll go pro THIS YEAR.

Dude is a stud and absolutely can potentially play on sundays. But it’s not happening this year.

And he sacrifices numbers to do what we need in our scheme.

Heacock just said in an interview he has now desire to go anywhere. He said he would rather coach here with Campbell then go elsewhere to follow money. And if you heard about how hard it was to leave Toledo, you know he is talking the truth.

i agree, but that doesn't mean someone big (like OU) isn't going to try to lure him anyway.

One thing that was floated out there on false starts was WSU simulating cadence or snap signals for our offense. They had been called for it in two other games.
Made the same point to my son during the game...there was sudden motion by the d-line leading up to every play. Sometimes it is hard to hold your spot when someone is jumping right in front of you.

I was at the game and I kept noticing how their D line would shift left or right just before the ball was snapped. I thought it was pretty clear they were causing our guys to false start. I was assuming that someone on defense was barking out a command to shift because the whole line shifted in unison. Had to be very distracting for our O line. Made me wonder if it was legal.

OU is going to be dangling some money in front of Heacock this offseason. You can bet on it. Wouldn't be surprised if Riley even gave him a call to spitball about the Bama game ahead of time.

Are you being serious with this?

Not everyone is about money bro. Some people like who they work with and are ok with where they are at.
And Heacock is 58. He’s also that Ohio type guy Campbell is, so maybe it would take something special and he’d want it to be back home.

somewhat. i'm not surprised by much in this world anymore, FWIW.

if he did want to put out an informal feeler to Heacock, that would be a good conversation starter, wouldn't it? we had the best scoring defense in the B12, and OU had the worst red-zone TD% in the country. it's not exactly uncommon for in-conference coaches to do that sort of thing when the opponent is non-conference, though i'll admit it's usually when there is a friendship established already.

I would be extremely surprised he would call an in conference defensive coordinator that is preparing for his own team's bowl game. A defensive coordinator that has probably watched very little of Alabama.

That was a winning defensive performance. D played great overall in spite of the targeting plays. Too many TO's and false starts cost us this game
"Heacock is so good" I'm scared to death that we are going to lose him.

Hey JP - dig!

I absolutely agree. He isn't quite big enough to play the NT position in the NFL. He can play that 3-technique position but he has to show that he can get more penetration into the backfield (TWSS). I guess he could be a DE in a 3 man front.

Awe thanks, but you didn't need to say anything. It's in the water.

I'll take it a step further - If the snap on that FG attempt was a good snap that FG would have been made. The holder did an amazing job just getting it in place so Assalley could kick it.
I also think that FG would have been good (plenty of distance) had the coaches made their decision to kick it sooner and the center, holder and kicker weren't under the gun to get the play executed!! It took WAY too much time to get that play decision made IMO.

Heacock has done a great job at ISU with the 3-3-5 alignment and not allowing opponents to make big plays. That is not the direction OU needs to go. They have been a finesse/soft defense for a number of years- they can beat quality teams one way and that is to outscore them.

OU can recruit 4&5 star HS kids- their defense should play like rabid dogs similar to Bama & Clemson. Big, fast, physical and fundamentally sound.
