Goals for next year?

Yeah, some people misunderstand goals vs expectation.

Using that template:

Goals:
1. Play in Big 12 title game
2. Finish in top 15 of CFP
3. Win bowl game (regardless of where we land)
4. Roster: Maintain performance of strongest position groups, improve less-effective groups compared to ’18.
5. Upset a higher-ranked team again, for buzz (along with no “should-win” losses)

Expectation:
Largely the same as "Goals," with possible exception of (1). I could live with upper-division finish, 8-win regular season and a good-level bowl bid.

With as much as this team returns...very good defense...stud QB...staff intact etc..

No reason why isu can’t compete for big 12 title..

I don’t see okie state getting much better..kstate I think will just be ok..WV losses a lot including stud QB. I think Baylor will be better.. Tech and KU won’t be good.

It will come down to OU/TX and ISU IMO.

I can see ISU being top 3 pre season in conf...that is amazing really.

7 home games in 2019 and 2 Bye weeks..

Hard to imagine a more messed up start to season than what we had this year..

Recruiting keeps improving every single year and a lot of youth sees field.

I think the defense next season will be borderline Elite..

1. 10 wins
2. Play in big 12 title game
3. Alamo bowl again
4. Win alamo bowl for 10th win

Like to see an OLineman or two unseeded from the first unit this spring. May be our best five but still like to see some competition. Hopefully they get sick of being referred to as our weakest link.

1.) Have 1 starting QB the whole season aka no controversy

2.) improve special teams kicking performance (ie make all extra points, not shank half the punts, snap the ball over the punters head, etc.)

3.) Take care of business in JTS…

The TV guys sort of implied that we did.

Where's my insiders?

Regarding 1 ISU has not had a QB start every game of a season in a decade

Certainly we should have a goal of improving every year. This year we finished #3 in the Big12. We should have goal to finish in the top 2 of the Big12 and play in the Conference Championship Game.

Given the schedule next year, I think we should have a good shot at starting 5-0 (at home vs UNI, Iowa, Louisiana Monroe, and TCU, and @ Baylor). Then we have a challenging stretch - at WVU, at Texas Tech, homecoming vs OSU, at Oklahoma, and home vs Texas. If we can go 3-2 for that stretch, we should have a great year. Then we finish at home vs Kansas and @ Kansas St. I think we should expect to win both. If we can manage to go 3-2 during that difficult middle stretch, we should have a good chance at a 10-2 season. Most likely that translates into playing in the Big12 CCG, and a New Year's 6 bowl.

That would be my goal.

In no particular order

1. 9-10 wins
2. Improved O-line
3. Maintain coaching staff
4. Find consistency in offensive weapons outside of Butler and Montgomery
5. Continued and improved recruiting momentum
6. Purdy taking the “next step”

I sort of disagree, especially if we lose DM and Butler.

Nothing wrong with "settling" for regular bowl games and an upward trajectory. As opposed to our history of a bowl game or two sandwiched between extended periods in the basement.

Losing DM and HB will obviously hurt with how large a % of the offense they accounted for.

Win everyone we have coming back, this is going to be one of our most talented rosters ever.

I have no doubt CMC, the staff and the player’s offseason will be focused on winning a conference title. I think our expectations should be the same.
