The in-state series between the Bulldogs and the Cyclones has been back-and-forth the past four seasons with home team winning each meeting. Iowa State holds a slight edge all-time, 29-28, in the series that started in 1975-76 and has featured at least one game between the two every season since.

Drake has wins over Nebraska, Creighton, South Carolina and South Dakota (which ISU lost to). Realtime gives them an RPI rank of 9 and ISU a rank of 7. Such numbers are iffy in December, but I think it fair to say, Drake is capable of beating the Sisters. ISU is, and ought to be, favored and should win if we play with energy - I think we will.

Go State!!

This has become one of the biggest games on the schedule, since Jenni Baranczyk arrived there.
Drake has looked very good, despite having players way below the athletic levels of several of their non-conf opponents - like ISU.
They almost got us at Hilton 2 years ago, until Buckley caught fire.

Good win against a really good team. Thought we might be looking OT before those two dumb Drake fouls pretty much settled it (and that one clutch Carleton late drive and score).

Great game from Carleton even with all of those TO's.

Good win for the Cyclones. Drake never stops competing and you have to be ready for them when you think you're safe (because you're not).

Just throwing out some stats of interest: going into this game, according to realtimerpi.com, ISU had an RPI of 7 (SOS of 8), while Drake's RPI was 9 (SOS of 15). It's been a VERY long time since Iowa State has played a non-con schedule this tough - SIX our of ten opponents have an RPI of 48 or better.

So many Big 12 teams have played garbage schedules this year. Only four programs have an SOS better than 173 (ISU, Baylor, Texas, OU). We're ten games in and the numbers are starting to reflect what's really happening on the court more and more. I'm not going to go out on any limbs, but I think we're going to be ready for conference play when it gets here. Let's be 10-2 when we host KSU.

Big win for ISU. Drake certainly missed Becca Jonas on D and on the boards today.
To hear Baranczyk talk about the Hilton crowd to Drake's supporters after the game (impressed and a little jealous) - I'd bet she'd listen if offered the ISU job in the future...

And our two losses COULD have been wins. Can't get all of the breaks, but a couple more in those two and we could be undefeated right now with the tough schedule. Bright future for this team.

Guessing she will be long gone from Drake to a P5 by the time Fennelly leaves. Bill might coach into his 70's.

I don't think she wants to go to a P5 right now. She is the big dog (get the pun) in the Valley and as long as she keeps winning she is an Iowa girl and likes it here in the state. If she were to leave Drake I think she has U of I on her bucket list.

Nice win today. Once we started playing really hard D things turned around. Lots of Drake fans there today, and sitting in the student section. Wish we could get our crowds back. I think I saw Aubrey Joens at courtside today, wearing an ISU sweater. Not 100 % it was her though. On a side note, Sofija Zivalevich played her 1st game with NDST today, 19 minutes and 7 points. I wish her well.
