We used to play Sheepshead at my summer job, when I was in college. It's been 35 years ago, but seems to me it was a lot like the game in the rural Des Moines area called Pitch.

I won a lot of money playing pitch at a local pool hall when I was in high school (a lot for a high school student that is).

Survived our weekend up north. The weather was perfect (except for the haze from Canada but I suppose that's not really weather and Booooo Canada). The highlight was probably the fact that we were able to stay up until 2:30 playing Never Have I Ever with the neighbor couple while listening to 80's night on the radio. Once again, I'm pretty sure that I'm never going to mature beyond age 15.

Mine is dialed all the way to "lighter" which pretty much yields medium toast. That's okay given it's a 1948 Toastmaster. At it's age I give it some performance slack. Sort of a functioning daily use heirloom, wedding gift from my aunt n uncle to my parental units in 1948.
Doesn't that has asbestos in it?

I'm assuming this is some swingers type game. Get to go all freaky with the neighbor lady? Best you don't mention anymore.

Couldn't be any worse than waking up and banging your head on the asbestos ceilings out at towers every day for a few years right. Or the microwave that was in the kitchenette that sounded like it was going to take off every time it was used and you thought maybe I should be wearing a lead blanket while using it.

There are numerous versions of "Pitch". My family has played 6-point pitch from the time when my father was a young boy in depression era Texas. PapaLew's family plays 10-point pitch - they learned it when he moved to Iowa from Kansas in the late 60's. I'm not really sure what the original game was, but his family assures me that "I don't know how to play pitch". I simply respond that I've been playing my version a helluva lot longer than they have been playing theirs. :) They're also mostly "tavern hawks" so really...

My ads have gotten very weird again. Now I can get the perfect holster for my handgun (which I don't have unless I see if they have a holster for a shotgun). I also got an ad for some weird underwear. I think it was maybe slightly unisex. I truthfully do not know if the model (whom they only showed the backside of) was male or female. Either way, I have no interest in that kind.

This is pure ignorance on my part but do people really care about having pets so much that they wouldn't date someone that doesn't want pets?

I've never had pets growing up. I am allergic to Cats, Dogs, and Feathers/Birds. I don't really have the inclination to take care of something when I can barely take care of myself.

It just boggles my mind that something like that would be a hard no.

Seems pretty intolerant, I guess. I'm allergic, too - to almost every animal but horses. I'd love to have both a dog and a cat, but....nope. :(

So it was a clear deal-breaker? Was she worth giving it a shot? (Flonase and Zyrtec are miracles, you know.)

It was a first date and she works at the zoo so she's a big animal person. It was a clear deal breaker for her anyway

They are out there. My wife's brother and wife live on a farm. The always had at least 2 dogs and 2 cats as inside pets. Their KIDS had bad asthma and nasty allergies. They let their kids suffer with that stuff. When one pet passed, they would replace them. 1) You live on a FARM, with plenty of options outside for the animals. 2) You have outside pets also, make them all outside. 3) You bring another inside when one passes instead of letting the kids breath easier. 4) so on and so on.

People love their pets so I'm absolutely sure that would be a deal breaker.
