Have you seen "The Post"? Great story, not only about journalism and the right to publish, but also about a woman who, in the early days of feminism, really put herself on the line in a male dominated world. Understated but powerful performance by Streep.
It's sitting on a USB drive right now, just waiting for me to find time to view it. It's definitely in the plans.

Good luck! Deck staining is one of the worst tasks!!

I got 2/3's done Saturday. Just need to go move stuff around and finish it. If I wasn't such a slug today i could have done it before it gets into full sun but that would have been way too practical. There was coffee and internet surfin that needed my attention this morning.

You can get by with about half of the "full" amount before any damage starts occurring. If its just an oil pan, those aren't bad to replace if the part is handy. The bigger concern is if anything else got hit. Best to put a new oil pump in while at it. Cheap part while you have it open.
When I was in the Navy, a buddy of mine traveled into Mexico, and wound up punching a hole in his oil pan. He was in/near a small town, and had a local mechanic fix it. He used a piece of rag and a wood plug. When he got the pan replaced back in the states, they tried to remove the makeshift plug, with no success.

Wifey-poo and I celebrated our 28th anniversary Saturday by going to the fair. Haven't been in a few years. My cousin's daughter is the reigning queen, and a good friend of mine's daughter is in this year's Fair Queen contest. Saw them both. I strongly recommend parking at the Capitol and taking the bus in. $2 round trip, and they drop you off right at the main gate. Parking at the Capitol is free.

Survived the arch, was neat, but got boring pretty fast. Took my first ever taxi to the city museum, this place is NUTS!

It’s been breaking down lately I saw. Have to take the steps down quite often.

Thanks for saying that after I was done. The couple we rode down with said the group they rode up with heard about people staying overnight because of breakdowns.

When I was working at AB they sent us on the tour. It really isn't much, here's where we boil the wort. Let's talk about rice, here's where we cool it. Free beer.
Not sure why people go on brewery tours. I would assume they are all similar.

I will add you can tell the difference with fresh beer served at the proper temperature.

Yeah, I thought we would see more of the process. Whatever, it was free and kilked a couple hours all together.

The big dog director that I was arguing with a couple weeks ago just said something like "Someone brought this up a couple weeks ago and maybe we should've listened more. Who was that?" on another call and then I was roped into that conference call immediately and expressed my concerns again and in more detail. It went over much better this time around.

Now I feel validated for expressing my views, instead of "knowing my place", like they should've been from the beginning. #winning

Good Monday so far.

Hopefully this isn't TMI, but I just put a deposit down to secure a surgery date. Most of us know what kind of surgery I'm talking about, which is where the TMI concerns spring from.

Late in October I will be inducted into the V-Club! :)

Tell me to bugger off if it's TMI but how long does that take and how long is the recovery process before it's "100%"? Happy for your next step!

Up Down is kinda awesome. Way better than any of the arcade bars in Dallas

(posted that in a way wrong thread before lol)
I've heard good things about it. There's evidently a speakeasy around the corner in an alley near there. I'm not sure if you found that but the directions to find it are to go into alley and look for the door with the red light above it (or something like that).

We went there but it was packed so we left immediately. Called Volstead's I think if you're looking for it.

I can't speak for the free tour but we did the $10 one and found it very interesting. They don't go into a ton of depth but give good over views. Might just be our interests but them talking about the history of the company, buildings and area was as interesting as anything else on the tour. The bottling facility was fascinating to me. Plus I think we got 2-3 beers on the tour, a voucher for one in their beer garden thing and a bottle taken directly off the line.

I think some of the folks that have been around awhile still have PTSD around our old yearly evaluation methodology. It was essentially the bottom two people (or some percentage) on your team was let go. No matter what. You never wanted to give anyone a reason to put you in the bottom even if your work was fine/great.

That was stopped before I was even hired so I don't care about expressing concerns like some of the "old guard"
