Have a friend who is a nurse. She had someone give her a small cactus for her office at work. She has an inside office so no sunlight. After a month or so, she was wondering why it didnt look very good. I asked her if it ever got sunlight, she said cactus (what is the plural for cactus) do not need much sunlight.

I questioned her why they lived in a desert and you could see the wheels starting to churn.

Cacti, I believe

Oh I forgot about strawberry pie. That's on my list too. I make a version of one except I put a layer of cream cheese/Cool whip between the berries and crust. So it's kind of a cheesecakey pie. And no top crust. IDK if it's really pie then. But it's tasty.

Coin flip on Key Lime Pie & MIL's chocolate cream pie

Apple

Somewhere, I have a recipe for frozen key lime pie. (Perhaps just frozen lime pie) I've made it twice. Difficult thing to take to family functions when you usually have to drive an hour plus, also can't just sit out on the table at a potluck.

We had a church dinner last weekend and all these beautiful pies. First dessert gone was my scotcheroos. I am like wtf, there are glorious pies but I guess little kids more into scotcheroos.

My dad loved gooseberry pie so much that he planted gooseberries in the yard so Mom could make them as well as gooseberry jelly. Similar reason he planted rhubarb.

You're crazy. Pecan pie is the bomb. Of course, I'd take apple with a slice of cheddar over pecan any day.
I've never had it but I am alternately intrigued/appalled by it. I'm guessing it is either something you really love or really dislike, much like Quentin Tarantino movies*.

*note: I am the exception to the QT movie thing in that I find most of his movies to be OK.

It's fairly common. In some areas of the country, people would think you were weird if you didn't.

[Twice a week] is utterly insufficient, as anyone who knows the secret of our strength as a nation and the foundation of our industrial supremacy must admit. Pie is the American synonym of prosperity, and its varying contents the calendar of changing seasons. Pie is the food of the heroic. No pie-eating people can be permanently vanquished.

After this quote, I must now eat pie at least 3x a week. Never knew eating pie meant so much.

the cheese on apple pie is a thing around here but I've never tried it. Maybe someday. It just seems weird to me. Same way they call it "chili" up here but it has ******* macaroni noodles in it. What the hell, that's goulash. Weirdos.

Anyone want a little cactus? Maybe I should offer it free on CL or something. It's been in the way on a counter for a LONG time since someone left it here along with some other junk like an obsolete Nikon camera set, a Hopi kachina doll and some NW Airlines paraphernalia.

Sounds like you may have hit the wine a little hard and made an overnight trip to mardi gras. Probably knocked off a tourist while down there.

Anybody want to search unsolved murders in NoLa?

I'm not really a sweets person. If I'm going to have something sweet, it needs to have a contrast along with it. Sweet and salty or sweet and spicy are the best but I'll settle for sweet and sour.

All of the birthin talk reminded me that I am the Butterfly McQueen of CF.

Noodles in your chili in Wisconsin? I thought that was a Cincinnati thing. And to me, goulash is spaghetti with a different kind of noodle and already mixed together before it gets to the plate.
