To continue my awesome week...my frozen meal said microwave for 3.5-4.5 minutes. I put it in for four minutes. It smelled good and then started smoking. Thankfully it appears as though the fire detection system warns security prior to the alarm going off so we did not have to evacuate.
We bought a newer microwave last year and it was 1600W (our old one was 1100W). It took a LOT of trial and error before we stopped cremating things. :)

I'm going to rant a bit here so keep scrolling if you're not into that kind of thing. I'll include a TL;DR at the end so you can get the gist.

I mentioned that I blew a brake line on my car on Thursday of last week. My first choice of mechanic was a family friend but he wasn't available. My second choice was a mechanic that is a block away from where I work. They had a towing company also and I figured I'd do my part in supporting the local businesses. I called them Friday afternoon and the guy said that he was swamped today but call back Monday morning and he should have it in and out the same day. Okay fine, I can wait over the weekend. I called Monday morning and he said he would have time to work on it. We have Verizon Roadside Assistance on my phone line so the tow was covered by that. I was in the process of setting that up and a representative from Verizon called and said that they didn't have any towing companies on record so could I recommend one. I happily recommended the mechanic I planned on taking my car to, since it was going to his shop anyway and I was supporting the locals even more by giving him Verizon's future towing business. I stopped in the shop after it had been towed and the guy I talked to said that they would take a look at it as soon as a bay opened up so they would have it done for sure tomorrow (Tuesday). I hadn't been holding my breath that they would actually be done on Monday so Tuesday was still good enough for me. I also mentioned that I had a check engine light on and I specifically said, "If you aren't too busy when you are done with the brakes, could you take a look at the light and see what is causing it to come on? I don't want it fixed necessarily; I would just like to have an idea of why it is on." I didn't hear from them on Tuesday so I called right at closing time and the guy said that he got the brake line changed but he was having trouble bleeding the system since it is a Cadillac and he has to hook the computer up to it and reset all of the sensors in the process. Keep in mind I'm leaving for Kansas City at noon tomorrow so I'm getting a little nervous at this point. I didn't hear from them yesterday and I got busy at work and didn't have time to call them. I just got off the phone with them and the guy said that the guy that was working on it yesterday got busy trying to figure out the check engine light so he didn't get the brakes finished and guess what!? It's his birthday today so he took the day off. So it will be done for sure by tomorrow evening. Uh, wrong answer; I'm leaving tomorrow at noon for KC. He then said that a local gas station got water in the gas tank last weekend and a bunch of tourists (I live in the Okoboji area) are stranded with watered down gas in their tanks so they have been focusing on fixing their cars all week. It's nice to know that the one-time tourists get prioritized over the locals that will be bringing in recurring business. Seems like a pretty backwards way to run a business if you ask me. So I told him that I needed my car by tomorrow noon no matter what and he said, "Okay, we'll call you tomorrow at noon and let you know how far we got on it." Safe to say he has officially lost my business. I'm an extremely non-confrontational guy, to a fault in some cases, but I think over my lunch hour I'm going to stop by and make sure they know that tomorrow at noon I'm driving my car out of the shop and it better be ready when I do.

TL;DR: The mechanic I took my car to to get the brakes fixed has been giving me the runaround and now I might have to miss a trip to Kansas City that I won't be able to reschedule.

/end rant

A+ rant. That is ********. They just keep making up excuses - I hoped you stopped by today to let them know OR just to say get it back in running condition, I'm picking it up today, extremely unhappy. And make sure to leave reviews in local groups if you can. That's just so unprofessional.

It is, I don’t live there anymore, so i’ll be driving back, but I loved my time there. The worst things about it are how hard it can be to find parking, and you basically have to drive through it on city streets unless you want to go around the lakes since it’s on an isthmus

also, sometimes those small side streets flood with heavy rain and inexperienced interns drive their cars into flood waters at 5am and have a few minutes of panic. Also, they have lots of one way streets and it can be unpleasant to find this out on the first drive home from work from your internship and discover the major one way street you needed closed THAT DAY for the summer and you smartly left BOTH maps you were given in your apartment. And you spend 15 minutes on the phone trying to get your brother and mom to operate the Google to get you directions "zoom out, you're too close, she said she's on this street, NO mom, that's too far! You can see China now!" before giving up and calling your boyfriend. And then you get home safe and sound.

But the abundance of cheese curds and pretty lake views is nice!

I miss fresh curds.....and a good fish fry, and old-fashioneds, and.......everything else about Wisconsin.

Ump said she slid under, there are some differing opinions from the field. ;) Throw came from our oldest behind the plate. At least she got two calls at home for outs. :)

Unfortunately softball umps are baseball umps that got too old or heavy to move well. Daughters team has a lady who takes hundreds of photos of the girls. She has a daughter and mine is her prayer partner at church so she gets extra attention. Would say in her photos, the umps are 50/50 on right calls. Might as well save money and flip a coin.

You talking about Woo? Or rehashing a traumatic experience?

She looks out. Her foot is like 3 solid feet off the bag.

Does the catcher girl have to have her foot on the bag like kickball? I'm guessing not? Because otherwise, that's what I thought. Slider girl still had a long way to go to touch the bag so even if catcher girl hadn't tagged her in the moment, she had time yet to get her.

It’s an out unless the ball pops out.

We also had a new one this year, ball came out but since it landed on the slider and didn’t touch the ground, the girl was called out when the ball was picked up.

Don’t have to be on the bag as a fielder as long as you apply the tag. Granted, our fielders have missed almost 30 plays/throwdowns to 2nd this season. Can’t we even get the benefit of the doubt for once?

This wouldn't be an out in baseball I don't think.

I was gonna say... I played 15 years... Haha

There are some odd differences between the rules but that ain’t one. Most different is, Wherever the ball is when it clears 1 or 3 that’s what it is. it doesn’t matter where it lands. It can be fair as it clears 3rd but somehow bends in a 90 degree angle and lands over the foul fence. It’s a fair ball.
