Speaking of sleeping under the stars, when the last time you have done that? Think I've done it three times, as a kid at bible camp, once with guys in HS and once on the ISU campus with this hippy gal.

On my 40th birthday, I climbed Mt Whitney with my brother and we slept under the stars at 12,000 ft. I absolutely loved it. Totally peaceful.

I'd like get my wife and daughter to do something similar sometime, but I'll have a lot of work to do to convince them to rough it.

I often have white coat syndrome high BP. Just knowing they are taking my blood pressure makes my blood pressure rise.
My dentist retired, and the new one has a hygienist that takes blood pressure prior to a cleaning. She uses this new wrist-band style cuff, and I tried to tell her it was in a bad place but she didn't listen. So this damn cuff did its squeeze thing right on top of my extremely arthritic left TMC joint. I have never seen my blood pressure skyrocket so high...it hurt like a sonofabitch. And then she told me that I should talk to my doctor about my high blood pressure (which has always always run on the low end of normal, even when pregnant).

So did you give her one of those southern "Dear child" sarcastic sayings? How did the actual cleaning go?

In high school, our church youth group had a summer conference known as the "Trail Conference". We would be dropped at the trailhead on Sunday afternoon, and were picked up at another point on Saturday. We packed everything with us, and hiked 3-7 miles every day except Wednesday, which was our rest day. We carried tarps and ropes; tents/tent poles were too heavy back then (at least the ones we could afford). 8 boys, 8 girls, 3-4 adults. Two of the ones I went on were on sections of the Cascade Crest Trail, the third was on the Olympic Rim Trail. If it was drizzly (which was probably 50% of the time) we would string the tarps between trees and sleep under them. When the weather was good, we would lay the tarps on the ground & just pile on top of them in our sleeping bags...and since we usually went in August there were pretty spectacular meteor showers. No creature comforts whatsoever. It was heaven!

Well, after that she took about 40 xrays (NOT an exaggeration...they called it a full panel). Then she wanted to shoot me with novocaine prior to cleaning.

I have a new dentist.

The wrist ones are not as accurate, been reading up on them some. They also need to be held up at your heart level which almost none of the dental types do when using them.

It read somewhere in the 170s over 90s. I'm usually in the 90s over 60s. Even accounting for less accuracy, that was obscenely high for me.

Wow, this new local mom is a looker in the moms get naughty ad!
I’m getting Muslim dating site ads now (i’m on my phone using a browser). Does it use data from all of your devices to make these ads? Because i’m taking an Islamic Law course this semester and did the reading for it tonight, but that was all on my laptop, not my phone

Are they all linked together thru your internet or phone provider? If they are I'm guessing all your data gets aggregated together. Strictly a guess though I'm no computer guru.

Didn't we talk blood pressure here before? Seem to think @wxman1 had vessel bursting levels or something. Anywho (note CG-ish segue), my blood pressure has popped up since last fall. Spiked at a specialists visit last week to 150 and down to 129 something when they checked when I left. Suggested I follow up with GP doctor. Did that Monday and think we had a 140ish but she didn't seem to alarmed but thought I should buy a BP monitor. Did that. Used it for the first time this morning 129/81. Checked after running three miles this afternoon and it was 110/69. Rechecked, 115/73. Seems weird to me after hitting 150 at one dr visit and 140 something at another.

Full disclosure, I've been listening to mellow jazz and HAVE NOT turned on any national news. Could be contributing factors.

My BP this week was 124/76. Pretty good for an older (61) guy. Also my combined cholesterol was 128, LDL was down to 70. (Under 100 is the goal.) PSA number was 1.1. So the doc thinks maybe it's not Type 2 diabetes, but Type 1. Going on Metformin for 6 weeks, then back for a fasting glucose test. Whatever the results show may determine if further testing is necessary.

@BoxsterCy, I'm a big smooth jazz fan myself. Who are you listening to lately?

And @BCClone, I feel your pain. Still trying to get used to the taste of Pepsi Zero. I used to drink a lot of Diet Sunkist (sparkling) Lemonade, but I think they quit making it.

We did it all the time when I was young. The back of our property was up against an 80 acre pasture. We had 3 permanent campsites and would sometimes set up a makeshift one. We would camp out 2-3 times a week in the summer when I was about 12-15. There was a farmer in Moingona (just west of Boone) that used to let us camp on his property by the Des Moines river. Every spring we would camp there for a weekend.

Farm mailman just called, said I mailed an unsealed letter yesterday, he said he went to seal it and noticed nothing was in it. Must be losing it if I'm mailing empty letters now.
