Tasty Tacos > Taco Tico

Sorry about the dislike there GTO, but I tried the Ankeny branch of Tasty taco and thought they were pretty disappointing, don't understand the love for their shell thing. Maybe I caught them on a bad day.

Yes, I35 on the Ft Worth side is easier to follow and less congested than the Dallas side. Are you looking for a hotel before or after Ft Worth?

If they want to experience Texas they need to sleep under the skies like real cowboys.

Didn't we talk blood pressure here before? Seem to think @wxman1 had vessel bursting levels or something. Anywho (note CG-ish segue), my blood pressure has popped up since last fall. Spiked at a specialists visit last week to 150 and down to 129 something when they checked when I left. Suggested I follow up with GP doctor. Did that Monday and think we had a 140ish but she didn't seem to alarmed but thought I should buy a BP monitor. Did that. Used it for the first time this morning 129/81. Checked after running three miles this afternoon and it was 110/69. Rechecked, 115/73. Seems weird to me after hitting 150 at one dr visit and 140 something at another.

Full disclosure, I've been listening to mellow jazz and HAVE NOT turned on any national news. Could be contributing factors.

I often have white coat syndrome high BP. Just knowing they are taking my blood pressure makes my blood pressure rise.

I texted hubby to make sure he wasn't snowed in. He said where he is has gotten about 10" and everything shut down. Not many people in the office today, except the crazy boss from Iowa I guess.

Not exactly sure.

Not sure. Will pend on how tired I am, how much we stop and such. Checking to see if the north, south, middle or anything is best to avoid or something.

Speaking of sleeping under the stars, when the last time you have done that? Think I've done it three times, as a kid at bible camp, once with guys in HS and once on the ISU campus with this hippy gal.

The whole night? Never. I don’t camp, I don’t sleep outside with no cover. I have slept in pickup cabs more than I care to. Have also pulled 36 hour shifts a few times.

Chaser since nobody answered your question. Taco Tico is a Mexican restaurant small chain it is reasonable and pretty good. Fort Dodge actually has some pretty good local restaurants Tico gets counted along with J-Mar, Tom thumb. Then Sports Page, Mineral City, Olde Boston all ran by the same people/group. @SCyclone can fill this in more than me.

There are 2 or 3 newer local Mexican places but Tico keeps surviving been there since the 70's I'm pretty sure.

Avoid the middle and south. I would recommend staying north of Ft Worth or past the city altogether. Most of the nicer areas are away from he freeway.

BC turn that trip into a BBQ tour and post us some reviews.

Maybe on the way back. Looks like I will be busting *** on the way down. Why did my cousin move from Norman? Free room and board, my family has done it for her’s several times and now when she can return the favor she skadattles.

BC 3 yrs ago when I went to Waco the Comfort Inn in Alverado Tx was pretty nice and reasonably priced. Want to say it was about 30-45 minutes south of DFW but not sure about that.
