I completely disagree with fouling when you're up 3 with less than 10 seconds. Especially if your opponent is something like 8-for-36 from 3-point range.

And Syracuse did it twice.

Sure, SU won, but not due to strategy.

(Fouling when you're up by 2 with less than 10 seconds left, I can see arguments for and against that.)

I like fouling 5 seconds and under. Think 7 is too much time. Could have easily burned them.

Yeah, by starting to foul that early they put themselves in a position where they had to make two real difficult inbounds passes. That full court laser to Battle was sketchy, but it worked out for them.

Can we get Jim Boeheim here over the summer to teach defense? Syracuse - just tough as nails.

After watching their zone a little more I like the idea. It's kind of like inverting the Hoiball offense. What are the best shots in basketball? At the rim and 3 pointers so just defend those shots. Instead of using the zone to pack in the middle you can use it to extend outward. Gaurd the 3 point line but don't fall don't to the middle so fast, especially top of the key. They leave the free throw area basically open. This is an area where you need a Niang to attack or just shoot the mid-range jumper. I really thought that Brodzianski would do that but they didn't keep him there and they kept looking back out immediately.

I would love to work on this D-fense as a change of pace as it really throws teams that get a lot of scoring from dribble drives.

You have to have a roster full of tall, long armed guys to play it well or else you have a bunch of holes in the zone.

I don't think you really have to be that much different. Heck everyone is tall and long-armed these days. You just need someone dominant in the middle. The idea is to leave lots of holes in the zone but guard the three and layups. Let them take 18 foot jumpshots all day long.

Have you looked at ISU's roster? Not everyone is tall and long armed.

Why would you foul up 2?
