Recruits stats and Senior performance

I just can't believe Conditt didn't have a lot more offers. Seems like these days if you've got that kind of height, no matter what kind of skills you have, you have a ton of offers. And Conditt actually is very skilled with that height.

Is he a bit thin, yes, but so are a lot of guys, like Mo Bamba at Texas for example. Bamba only has an inch on Conditt. And Bamba is a one and done. Conditt has some handles, runs the court extremely well, has a decent shot out to 3 pt range, blocks a ton of shots, etc.

I'm VERY happy he's going to be a Cyclone. Conditt is not a Luka Garza player. Luka is slow, no handles, no outside shot, can only play center type player. Conditt is MUCH more athletic, mobile, shot blocker, can play multiple positions type guy. I'd much rather have Conditt than a Garza type player.

Aren't you comparing apples to oranges kinda? Obviously Iowa is a struggling team but Garza as of late has been scoring 15+ and 10+ rebounds. I'd take that from a freshmen. Just like we're getting from Lard now! I doubt we'll get that out of Conditt as a freshmen because he probably won't get the minutes.

As of late he has been scoring 15+ and 10+ rebounds? He has done that three times all year. I will admit that he has done it twice in the last four games, but in his last seven games he also has games of 8, 6, and 6 points as well and games with 1, 3, and 5 rebounds.

As for what Garza is producing being the same as what Lard is giving us? I don't thnk so.

Data, data, data,....lol. Never claimed that Lard and Garza's stats were 'equal'. Both are contributing as freshmen. Also Lard has more athleticism as the poster pointed out. Just was replying and saying that Conditt probably won't get on the floor much as a freshmen to prove the previous poster's point. It really was about Conditt and Garza, not Lard. Thanks for the info, and I don't really want to read or talk about Iowa players for awhile.

FYI Conditt's dad and coach said there is no way he is redshirting and his coach said he's the best defender to come out of Chicago since Anthony Davis. Clearly he's biased but interesting they are adamant he won't redshirt

Interesting. Glad they are confident in his defensive skills, but the Chicago writer was adamant about him being a prime redshirt candidate. Big12 vs. class2A in high school is a big jump. But....having said that, I don't blame any player for not wanting to sit out a year.

THT is going to get a big bump when 247 updates their own rankings too. The other 3 moved down

Yeah, they have THT at a .9000 and #110. I'd guess he'll just to somewhere between .9450 & .9600 on 247. Not sure where that would move him in the composite, though.

Good article thanks for posting.
Really like this quote, fully expect Zion will see the court quite a bit next year.

Griffin said Iowa State coaches told him he’ll play “whatever he can guard,” whether that’s the two (shooting guard), three (small forward) or four (power forward). Chances are he’ll play a little of all three. He’s actually pretty college-ready in terms of his size and his array of weapons on offense.

I watched a lot of the Simeon vs Curie game yesterday and THT's versatility was certainly on display. He finished with 25 pts, 7 rebounds, 5 blocks, 5 steals, and a handful of assists. He's really comfortable handling the ball for a guy his size. I noticed he mostly guarded bigger guys as he was probably the "4" most of he time he was on the floor but he could probably still guard a wing player on the perimeter. He was efficient inside the arc but probably about 1-6 from three for the game. As others have noted, he's very good at creating space with his step back. It will be interesting to see how CSP is able to utilize his skills next year.

A little highlight tape from Conditt's triple double last night. He has a lot of potential with that length and ability to stretch the floor, but it's going to be a huge adjustment for him next year. I think he could really benefit as a redshirt but we'll see what the staff thinks.

Guys with Conditts body type thrive in CBB all of the time now. You can work out and bulk up all you want but that’s not making you any longer. Length is a big X factor nowadays. Just have to put him in good positions on defense where he’s free to help from the weak side because he’s got elite shot blocking instincts and the ability to run out.
