Friends staying with us last night and part of the day today. They are very tall (I think I have talked about them before and some of you have figured out who it is). We found out that our dog is scared of tall people.

Do I go to the game or no? I don't like being out in rain. The 12yr old really wants to go to a football game, may bail and try again at Homecoming.

I bailed because of the forecast. Was going to go to this reception thingy and then the game the next day but I don't do "sit in the rain" anymore.

Was at a ISU/Husker game when Troy Davis was playing. It was the 4th quarter and we were getting our ass kicked. Husker buddy wanted to leave, he had had his fun. I insisted on staying to see if Davis would get 100 yards. I drove. I won. We also got pretty wet and the grass lots where a muddy mess. Driving 200 miles home, wet, was stupid...just don't rain watch anymore.

I've got a bad feeling about this game.

Well, there are corn fields nearby, south off of University.

On the plus side, I have a parking pass. On the downside, these are not endzone seats so can't sit inside all game and stay dry. My dad and his buddies still went but they park less than 100yds from an entrance and can sit inside. One radar looks promising, another looks like the heavy stuff will be rolling in about game time.

The whole process can be so frustrating. Wife has dealt with most of the paperwork, while I have mostly focused on repairs, packing, and moving logistics. Less than a week to go just makes everything that much more nerveracking.
We bought our acreage from a lawyer. Much love to Woo & Lawman, but dayum!!! After the fifth round of counter-offers we very nearly said screw it, we'll buy somewhere else.

We had that conversation last night and again this morning. With the grass lots closed, we didn't have parking within a walking distance that I can do. Then we got an offer to ride in with friends who have a pass in the paved lots, so we were reconsidering. Our mobile pass seats are in the upper end of 24 (lower deck, corner next to Endzone club). So, corner seats with poor visibility & sitting in the rain...or comfy seats in the living room - no lines for the bathrooms, no rain, excellent choices for inexpensive food...
I'm thinking...I'm thinking........

Selling dat Iowa house directly without real estate agent to friend of friend. Got an appraisal, offered a discounted no haggle price and hope to be done soon. They wanted to haggle a little bu it's a 10-15% below market price and it's a take it or leave it. We did pay a real estate agent a couple hundred to give us a market appraisal. Pretty much exactly what I came up with on my own via internet searches.

I have never actually dealt with a real estate agent or traditional "buy". Bought my house in 1986 directly from the old couple selling it. Had lawyer (friend of friend) draw s up an agreement. Think it cost me $250 for the lawyer. Okay, 1986 and friend of friend pricing for sure.

I think as a sub you could pretty much work every day if you wanted. I talked to a retired elementary teacher a few weeks ago and she had subbed every day since school started.

Husband's stepdad subs in the Des Moines area, and could work every day if he wanted. He'll get calls for particular schools (automated system), and if he had a bad experience before with the school in general, he'll reject it.

My mom knew something was up when both my best friend and myself complained about our HS freshman English honors teacher. Both of us good kids with good grades...she just really seemed to talk down to us, and wouldn't admit mistakes.
