My parents had a foreign exchange student from Finland my younger sister's senior year in HS. I was probably at home from college during the summer before she left at the end of the year. We were outside on a hot June day and she wanted some water. I come back with an insulated cup full of ice and then water. She took one drink and spit it back out--was not excepting it to be that cold.

I had a roommate from Switzerland who didn't shave her legs or armpits and also did not put ice in drinks. She was willing to drink lukewarm coffee, which I found odd.

Nope, the modem. One of the secretaries was moving a vase of flowers and dumped all the water right on top of it.

Do you remember reading the story about the teenager who lost both of his arms in a farm accident? He came in the house, dialed 911 with his nose then sat waiting for the ambulance in the bathtub "so he wouldn't get any more blood on his mom's floor".

Had never heard that story. Kinda makes me look callous...

I know when I got water in Italy it was a chilled bottle and a glass. No ice in the glass. I have only drank bottled or draft beer when overseas so I have no idea how they did mixed drinks. Next RTTer that goes overseas needs to do some research. Lots and lots of research

You're right (they only exposed cleavage if it was a fancy date). I guess I should have stated that I was staring at what I imagined their cleavage to be.

Wasn't one of the great joys of early dates checking out the girl's butt as she walked to the bathroom? With men looking at their phones all the time, they're really missing out.

The best way to shoot ouzo is straight into a drain. That crap is awful.

The only time I put ice in my drink is at a restaurant and my cooler I take to work. I hate watered down drinks more than warm drinks.

I LOVED Special Export - the reason your hangovers were so bad is because the alcohol content of "Green Death" was usually 10-12%, or twice what normal beer is. It was also kind of exotic because it wasn't in brown bottles like 98% of the other beer in those days. Miller was another exception, they had clear glass bottles.

At tennis the other night, I was sitting next to my FIL's girlfriend. One of the girls on the court got hurt and her response was, "She'll be fine. She won't know real pain until she gives birth"

I responded to her with, "You women have it so easy. You give birth to a tiny, little baby and sit in a hospital getting all your needs tended to by a nurse for a couple of days."

I could hear the lady sitting on the other side of my FIL gasp and sigh.

And that reminds me of the old bear trap joke............

That's kind of how they served it in Costa Rica. Slightly warmer than lukewarm, but definitely not hot.
