I do remember when that show was here. A lot of people were pretty upset about that huge delay. Evidently, that was one of those times when Axl was trying to achieve that perfect "buzz" for the show.
Any Adventureland tips for me? We decided to get out of town this weekend, see my sister in Des Moines, meet up with an old college friend and his daughter, and take in Adventureland for a little nostalgia. I haven't been there since I was maybe 12 or so.
Just chased away one of the Northside Bobs that was headed into my yard to bury a walnut. The neighbors walnut trees and the zillion burr oaks, white oaks and red oaks in the immediate vicinity just might have something to do with the mongol hordes of squirrels here. They do associate a slamming screen door with stinging BB's. Bob dropped his walnut as he fled.
They were notorious for being late to shows. And yes, people were not happy at all, I had been up for over 24 hours by the time they came on. But by the end of the first song you couldn't be mad anymore, they were really on that night.
Soundgarden was the warm up band and they sounded terrible. You couldn't make out a song, lyric or even a beat. They stopped playing and Chris Cornel said "have fun waiting" and stormed off the stage.
Locals getting crazed up again. People who come from this town is pure nuts and violent. Latest two, one pulled a gun and injured someone. Another set a car unfire to teach a lesson. Where I'm from, the losers just steal your stuff but don't want to harm you.

If you want to ride the Monster, do that first. When we went last summer, hubby and the older 2 went right away when we got there. I said I would ride it later, but by the time I decided to try the line was too long. The water park is included and a lot of fun, but this weekend is only supposed to be about 75 degrees. When we went last summer I had no issues with any of the rides. Went this spring with the middle school band and one of those rides that spins in a circle plus swings back and forth simultaneously did me in. Man, I felt old after that. Stuck to mainly roller coasters and other rides. Tried the old school "Der Flinger" later and same thing.

Well, I can say I prefer my interactions with the ladies when pants is not involved.
Spinning rides are out for me. I know my limits and the consequences for those around me if I test those limits.
I'm not the greatest on rides anymore, but I usually try to tackle the biggest one right away so I have recovery time if needed. Sometimes I only make it to one or two before my stomach says no mas.
I was wondering about the water park part of it. We'll probably bring suits and see if the water cooperates. Worst case, my daughter can have fun with her friend.
I'm pretty sad they got rid of the log ride. When the kids were little, towards evening one time when we were there, they didn't have any line and they let us just stay on the log repeatedly. We must have gone through a couple dozen times and were drenched.
My kids like all of the coasters. I do fine on spinny stuff but I hate coasters. My kids like the water stuff too, but I think they would ride coasters for the most part if they had their way.
The age and weight guesser is always worth a prize. I usually have them guess weight and they are usually about ten pounds under. Last time I had them guess age, and they had me 18 years younger than I am lol. They maybe just try to make people feel good so they will throw more money around at the other games.
Also, you probably know this, but don't pay full price at Adventureland. Hy-Vee and Casey's usually have coupons. There are usually discount codes online too. I think they may even have some social media pages that list discounts.
If you are a Alumni Association member, you can also buy discount tickets online. I did that last week when my oldest was invited to go with a friend.
My college friend hooked us up with some discounted tickets already. All three of us for under $100.
So instead of doing my job I went to the ISU ticket site and counted up season tickets available from the ticketmaster site. I counted 1292. Now that will not take into account season tickets no longer available due to sales of mini packs which are all in the end zone corner sections and obviously seats that are held back for the opposing teams. I also skipped the End Zone Club tickets Which has 58 available.
I would think ticket sales are better than some of the gloom and doom some people are trying to paint.

I keep the Boxster keys in the bedroom dresser for those of you who can drive stick. It's freshly cleaned and detailed. Will need an oil change (8.72 quarts of Mobil 1 synthetic) this fall before you put it into winter hibernation. Pants or NWICY can show you the location.
