Fall Camp Depth Chart

Ray Lima is stud..upgrade..Our DEs this yeR much better than last year IMO..Waggoner and Benton both serviceable and Eyioma going to be star.

Assuming Tongo shows up when was last time we had 4 Interior DL with that size?

Will it be all big 12? No..but our D will be better than last year..

I love your optimism; I'm actually more worried about our small linebackers and vertically challenged corners.

I fully expect to see Hummel & Vance in the rotation by mid-season.

This is the most impressive depth chart we have had in years.

Question for the QB spot. If Park gets hurt, will we really put Kyle Kempt in the backfield or will Lanning come back over to the offense?

Definitely some depth concerns in the middle of the defense, but overall this is one of the better looking depth charts I’ve seen in a few years. Yeah, you need to take it with a grain of salt, but I like the fact that we have a good mix of upperclassman starters and younger players with experience backing them up at several positions.

IMO, I think Lanning's days at QB are over. Kempt can hold his own for a bit, but I would prefer the idea of getting Zeb some reps if the need is there.

The only way I could see Lanning coming in would be if we are holding a small lead near the end of the game and could use Lanning's ability in the backfield to help milk the clock and get a few first downs. Otherwise, he is our starting linebacker and we would be running the risk of injuring our starting linebacker in backup QB duty. And we are not exactly scaring anyone at that position the way it is.

Situational. Exactly. I'd love to be in that position.

Of course the first play he lines up behind center would be a great time for play action as defenses will be expecting the zone read.

Unless we're playing Texas Tech

I actually didn't think Tongo was coming so that was my mistake. The tweets today say otherwise so that makes me feel a little better. I think I saw a previous CW tweet about jucos not making it and assumed it was tongo.

Tongamoa will be at ISU but I don't think there's a guarantee that he plays in 2017.

This year DL will have more size and bodies available than at any time I can remember..Will it be good enough talent wise? Idk..but at least we wont lack in size or depth and size..Should we go back a few years and recall starting DT at like 260 Lbs...

Really hoping Chase A at TE can come out and have a 500+ rec yard season. Future is bright there.

Interesting that Kene is listed as KR, but not RB.

I could see Northrup playing SS.

Umm no.. too big and never has played it. Northrup played well as couple games of the year..

Take weights of this new depth chart throw out window..according to CMC today:

Wilkerson is 185
Eyioma 290
Leo 290

Etc..Can't believe both those 2 are 290+..My lord.

Getting pumped for this season..I really like what we have coming in this season. First time since I've been fan for 30 years that we actually have 4-5 interior DL all approaching 300LB or more and some of them are actually talented..

Spears ahead of Northrupp and Leo as a tackle were my biggest surprises. Especially since I remember some report saying Leo had physical gifts, but had to work on his pad level.

I'm really excited about the number of playmakers at WR, TE, RB and QB. If our line can continue the improvement we witnesses last year and give Park time to throw and Montgomery and Warren some room to run, we should be able to score with anyone.

The size and talent of Lazard, Eaton, Allen and Butler coupled with the speed of Ryen, Jones and Epps should be really intriguing to watch.

Northrup was out of position last year a lot. So much towards the end of the year, he playing time went down. Spears is a good surprise and this will make the D better.

I don't understand the love for Peavy. I guess the opposing B12 coaches want him to be on the field so they can throw behind him for TDs. A lot of highlights last year with #10 in the frame but chasing the WR.

I'm concerned about our LBs.... but CB is our strongest position. Height is overrated in the context of college CBs, both those guys can play.
