McGregor - Mayweather

I definitely don't think McGregor will win, but I'm not sure I really agree with that analogy. McGregor *could* get lucky and land a blow. He doesn't have to be some great boxer to do that. A cricket player would never be able to hit a 95 mph fastball, and a baseball player wouldn't know what the hell cricket is.

Football and rugby would be a better comparison.

Mcgregor is going to get murdered and embarrassed. However, he will have 100 million after he is done. So he wins even when he loses. Good job by Connor. Money get's to pay off his tax bet. I get to drink with friends. This is a win win win for everyone.

100% agree. After McG is going to complain and say "I lasted all those rounds and wasn't knocked out. If Floyd got into the octagon, he'd be done in a minute."

That's not really complaining, it's just right.
It is right but he agreed to it and is getting paid. To me, then don't ***** about it, because you are saying right now you'll knock him out.

More like 15 seconds unless he literally just ran around.

people who pay for this are going to be disappointed...assuming it actually takes place. Maybe a round of actual action once they get done dancing and avoiding one another. And then, I predict a glancing/feaux blow that puts McG on his ass.

McG is no Ali and his **** talking isn't original. It's not even entertaining. I've heard guys at the bar who offer better one-liners before they fight.

The boxer will win this one, but it is really hard to root for either one of these jerks.
Conor is more of a genius than a jerk. He doesn't beat women and his antics are to get into his opponent's head and make money. It has worked many times.

I don't even know if that works. Nate Diaz doesn't have much of a head to get into, and tapped Conor out and went the distance and lost to him.

You don't even know if it works? If it doesn't, he's just demolished high level fighters without being in their head I guess. Diaz lost the striking battle by a long, long ways with Conor in both fights. In the second, CM clearly figured some things out and that fight wasn't all that close.

I'm willing to bet he won't be ******** about anything if he loses. Again, it's not ******** to say that he'd take him out in less than a minute.

I guarantee he will *****. And I agree he could take him out in the octagon.

Huh? The reason Diaz choked him out in the first fight is because he rocked Connor and Connor went for a takedown so he didn't get knocked out. That is how Diaz choked him out. The second fight I thought Diaz won 3 out of the 5 rounds which was all striking. Diaz is no Mayweather. However, to Say Connor beat him by a long long ways is just crazy talk. Diaz could have knocked him out in both fights, especially the first one.

Diaz is a freak with a head made out of stone that you can't get into. Not to mention bigger than Conor. Fight #2 was too close for me to call but both are freak-ass warriors.

Conor has clearly gotten into the heads of his opponents.

I lot of people I see in this thread are three things

1. Don't know a thing about boxing
2. Are the reason they can get over with this side show of an event because of the hope that Conor can't knock him out with ONE lucky punch
3. This is basically the movie "The Great White Hype the only difference is Irish Terry Conklin is actually Irish

Conor's been fronting a scream rock band and getting wasted every night in Cleveland for the past several years? Weird, doesn't show on him.

I get what you're saying - this fight is mostly hype and build up, and people are ignoring what a mismatch it is. But give credit where credit is due. McGregor is no obscure has-been. He's an elite athlete in the prime of his career. I don't know enough about either sport to say for sure how the fight will go, but I keep going back to this story I heard once about Jim Brown and Muhammad Ali. Crossing over from one sport to another would be hard enough in and of itself. Crossing over with no professional experience and stepping directly into a fight with a guy who is by most accounts the best boxer of his generation? Draw your own conclusions, I guess.

There's a bunch of financial docks written into the contract if McGregor pulls any "MMA moves". Severe financial repercussions.

That said, it'd be beyond glorious if he'd just WWE this thing.

Rush out of the corner grab that little POS and choke him out.

I haven't paid much attention to this but thought I'd watch a bit.

They're currently showing highlights from their 'press conferences' where they just shout a bunch of things. Looks very fake and forced and I hope all the hype turns out to be a really short fight where people just paid a ton of money to see nothing happen.

I doubt it'll be short, but will bet green money that nothing will happen aside from Floyd running, playing defense, countering, and winning via a very boring decision.
