storms themselves about 11pm-midnight weren't too bad. But the wind at about 4-5am was nasty. Kept both of us up. Thought about going into the bedroom on the east side of the house to sleep there but didn't want to get out of a warm bed. Probably should have done that.

The pregnant lady didn't get her early nap/bed time due to the storms so she was really struggling last night and this morning. Knowing the storms were coming and being nervous about that tree we kept LittleWx up since we were going to go to our little shelter and figured it would be easier keeping him up than having to wake him up by doing so. He handled it like a trooper other than after the worst but still thundering and raining because "No! Rain stop!".

In hindsight we lucked out since I think it was weakening as it came into and through CR and the fact that there are no leaves yet so less weight on the branches. The only damage to trees in our neighborhood is to big full evergreens. The CR airport measured a less than severe wind gust. Too bad the marion airport doesn't have an AWOS or ASOS to report into the system.

Storm was nothing. Highest gust was 47.

Why would the Marion airport need a British fashion company for reporting?

ha Automated Surface Observation Station (ASOS) and Automated Weather Observation Station (AWOS). These systems are how pilots get info on what the weather is doing at an airport. They also have the ability to feed into the NWS system that would automatically allow the NWS to see what peak wind gusts and what not are. So IMO you would have had two airports 10 miles apart report less than severe wind gusts and no immediate damage reports so if you have no hail or tornado threat they maybe could have held off on warning Jones county.

That won't happen though because they would rather warn and catch every little thing than see what will happen.

It sounded like an angry mob was throwing rocks at my house for about 25 minutes.

And there were still quarter and golf ball sized hail stones in my yard this morning, 10 hours after it stopped hailing. I'm not sure how big they started out, but there were pictures of baseball sized hail about 5-10 miles from my house.

It looks like the AC would still work.

We must have received next to nothing...didn't hear any hail; wind blew a bit, but I checked this morning and no trees or branches down. Even the one tree that is 3/4 dead is still upright.
