Pet Peeve

I agree and it's been this way for years (Fred wound't do it either); it does not disrupt our D set if we send a defender (even a fake gesture) to make them pick it up. Why give the opposing Offense a full shot clock? I see many teams that set up at least 1-defender over the half court to make the O pick up the ball - that's just sound strategy.

Ive always wanted to see a turnover on the ball roll...just once in my life.
I couldn't find video but here's Omaha.com's description of Seton Hall's Khadeen Carrington getting a steal on this last night vs. Creighton:

Junior Toby Hegner’s 3-pointer brought the Jays within two points with 20 seconds left. But Carrington hit two free throws, then alertly stole the ensuing inbounds pass when CU tried to roll the ball toward half court to save time, and then he hit two more free throws.

I don't care because we could get out of position and get burned.

For entertainment purposes I would love to see someone go balls out and slide for one just to see what happens.

He actually dunked it after the steal. He wasn't fouled.

My biggest pet peeve is when our guys leave their feet and have nowhere to go with the ball.

LAST NIGHT you missed one then! I saw some of the end of the Seton Hall win over Creighton. Creighton rolled the ball up to keep the clock from starting and SHU's Khadeen Carrington picked it off for a lay-up (and one, I believe). The announcer called it a "pick six".
The announcer sucks at math.

Maybe a dumb question but what is the point in rolling the ball? The same thing can be gained by letting it bounce. What advantage is gained?
You know exactly where a rolled ball is. A bounced ball adds an extra dimension to keep track of while the player is eyeing both the ball and the defensive player. It isn't much different but it's a little safer to roll.
