***Iowa postgame thread***

I wish our starting PG would focus more on the important things. Like, talking unnecessary amounts of trash and worrying about a stupid gesture towards the opposing fans. That dude isn't All-America worthy. He'd barely make the All-Antarctica team right now.

Monte, get your head out of the clouds and play like a damn pre-season All-American. Lead your team and leave the **** talking to us fans. We're better at it anyway. (Apologize for the near open letter there).

There is something with Monte and Naz specifically that comes across as if they're trying harder to look/sound "cool" than they are trying to play hard. You can tell that they aren't zeroed in every night and it's costing the team wins. If this loss doesn't shake them all to the core and realign their priorities, we're not going to make the NCAA's. Not even close.

Long's shooting problems are easy to see. On some he is falling back. On some he tries to shoot it too quick with no follow through. He just isn't being consistent in his shot. He doesn't look comfortable at all out there

Yeah, he definitely doesn't square up and kind of has a flick to his stroke. You know he's out there shooting a thousand of those a day to get out of his slump though, so hopefully it'll come around.

I think it's absolutely necessary to question CSP when the team has not shown improvement after this many games. The seniors looked bad last night. Those Seniors are a proud bunch...but talking confidently is one thing...proving it on the court consistently now is the hard part.

When you have that many Seniors on the team shouldn't they know what to do, how to run some sort of offense. After the game they admitted they didn't do what they were suppose to do on offense. They had chances to get back in the game but did stupid stuff that kept them out. Yes Iowa came to play and played a good game, but left the door open until the very end and this team never took advantage of that. There are experienced players not doing things they learned in 5th grade.

The problem with this team is 75% mental. They walk out there thinking they can do whatever and win and that isn't the case. When you have a Soph, a JUCO and a Freshman out playing Seniors that is a major issue.

His footwork is flat out bad. I am not shooting expert, but look at his footwork when his shots go in vs when he misses. One shot he took his stance was so wide I don't know he was doing. He is also at his best in catch and shoot, not creating his own shots, which he is trying to do too much of now. Again it goes back to moving on offense and making the extra passes.

I see their recognition of that as a positive. I guarantee that no one is feeling worse than the coaches and players about that one. Sometimes it takes this kind of game where you really can't make excuses for external factors and have to do some serious reflection. Should be a ton of tape to review on what we're doing wrong (though some of it was just simply missing shots and the other team playing very well. It certainly goes deeper than that though).

I don't mind him driving as he was the only one really doing that, but I think his strengths do play to either taking the catch and shoot or taking it to the hole (and that's okay, if he recognizes it and is limited to that).

The one he airballed in the first half he was doing both

Everybody is forced to try and create for themselves when we don't move the ball around and this team is not full of people that are capable of that

I'm guessing it won't be a real fun film s session when they review this one, especially the play where Moss got the board and put back late or the possession where Baer got multiple offensive rebounds. Just flat out getting out worked

The reason they went on that run with Babb is because he was attacking. Whem you get the ball in the paint good things happen

Yeah, I'm not sure why we didn't do more of that. Maybe that was the game plan that they didn't follow. When you have a team that has been bad defensively, it makes sense to force the issue and put pressure on them.

He was about the closest thing to a bright spot we had last night. Him and Young (the only one that seems capable of and offensive rebound) need more minutes

For some reason I am watching it again. Just saw Morris with open lane to the basket and could have attacked but stopped and slowed it down. Just before that missed wide open Young and then missed wide open Bowie when he was doubled

Working on defense didn't work either apparently. Iowa was beating them down the floor so easily and they let a bunch of freshman nobodies punk them.
Honestly if this is what they are going to do under Prohm, he won't last long. And I like the guy. But if they are struggling this year then think about next year.

We held them well under their average. The defense wasn't the problem last night again. Every whiny fan from the past 6 years has their defensive team that they've always wanted. Let's see how that works out.

The second half was better but they got so many easy looks in the first half

Have seen at least two times where Pemsl should have been called for a foul. ISU guy goes up for a shot and he uses his body to push into them on the shot

THIS TEAM IS PATHETIC and is coached by a pathetic coach. They will never see the NCAA' tournament . there not even fun to watch anymore.
