Jordan Harris to transfer

He probably would have been 4th string LB even though they only have enough for 3 deep.

For sure 4th string. Even though he started every game last year ahead of every guy that is now going to beat him out.

Everything is fine, just fine.

The Plan? The Plan?

Everyone take a deep breathe. I have not actually spoken to Campbell but I think it's obvious he likes his backers fast and athletic. Moving Seonbuchner to DE, is a strong sign that he likes to move his backers around and try to confuse the defense.

Here's why I think this won't be as damaging as some are saying. We now have Northrup and Jones in the open field tackling for us. Seonbuchner and Nerness gives us length and athleticism on the edges. Is losing a physical player good? No, but it's fairly obvious that Harvey, Jones, Northrup, Nerness, Seonbuchner are the kind of bodies and athletes who can get the job done. Both Tribune and Peavy tackle well, so I'm optimistic for once we may tackle well again. Spears, McMillen, Mills will need to be ready to play.

This is much worse than those guys, they both had a lot of potential but neither showed they could be a big 12 player game in game out (Coe barely did that), each were projects that never really developed at ISU. Harris is one of the top 2 or 3 players on the defense and plays the position at which we have the shortest depth on the entire team.

Disagree with this, both those guys had definitely shown they were big 12 players. They really came on at the end of the previous year and have done great things since. I don't think we'll see Harris in the NFL.

Getting beat out and so you up and transfer.

Good gawd an entitlement culture taken root in athletics.

How about training harder and sticking it out one more year?

Harris isn't a difference maker. He wouldn't have won or lost us any games.

I'd like to hear from the "didn't want him any way" crowd what players would hurt if they left. Maybe just put it on record. For those with any idea what they were talking about, Harris would have been on the list a week ago IMO.

Seeley is about the worst LB option I have seen suit up and take the field. Saying he is an adequate replacement for Harris is just ludicrous. Maybe the scheme didn't fit him, but there will be some guaranteed running downs in red zone D where there will be no better LB on ISUs team to hold the line. When ISU is giving up RZ TDs 80% of the time next year this will be one of the primary reasons.

You should prob not watch any games next year because all I've seen I doom and gloom..At least Seeley didn't have to RS his junior year because he couldn't grasp playing the actual position he's supposed to be playing..forgot to add Northrup as well. I never once said losing Harris doesn't have some effect..seems like every single thing I post you completely take to a level 10..go drink so beer man. Is it ideal losing Harris who by all accounts was passed over by Harvey? No as it affects depth..but it's not like we just lost Jake Knott for the year either..Harris was not good in pass coverage and struggled reading the QB..hence the reason he played a lot in a 3-4 and the year before in our 4-3 he had to RS..With moving to a mostly 4-2-5 I doubt he would even be 2nd string Mike. As for Seeley..I don't disagree with you to a certain extent but he can at least read pass plays.

It hurts because he was a run stopper and would have provided depth plus he would have been a big asset in short yardage situations but there's a reason he's going to Southern Miss

Yes. To be closer to home. It isn't like Southern Miss is somehow much worse than us. They won 9 games last year.

Pretending this transfer doesn't hurt is denial to the Nth degree. All the rosy things being said about other backers were the same things said about Harris last fall.

I think I've been pretty fair in my thoughts of him transferring. Comparing Iowa State to a Conference USA team is stupid though, he's going a step down

I would not have included Harris on that list..and that's being honest..it was known that he didn't have a good spring and was passed over. Moya..Peavy..Tucker..Any Olineman..Lanning..Warren..Lazard..Harvey..Payne..Those are guys we can't lose and woild really really suck to lose IMO. He was a returning senior LB who had to RS as a jr because he couldn't grasp the playbook and pass plays who didn't make an All big 12 team..sucks for depth but that's about all I feel.

Losing Harris hurts. Harvey may be a nice player and by all accounts was at a minimum pushing Harris to start. But anyone who thinks Seeley is a Big 12 caliber, or even D-I, linebacker must have been asleep in the last few years.

I would like to know where all these people heard harris got passed by in the depth chart. Sources?
