Emmanuel Malou thread

I'd also be interested in seeing an actual list with the years enrolled. The issue with Malou also has to do with the schools he attended, not just the amount of time. The "colleges" in Australia are not the same as here, and the whole ABCD prep is a cluster because it wasn't even legit. Malou has a few factors against him.

Has there been any other players from ABCD prep go on to play college?

You can put together a fairly clear timeline from Travis Hines' article if you want to take the time to do it.

According to this page, 3 players from ABCD prep have played D1 basketball.

He should go to China or Europe if he doesn't go to Isu. He wants to make money I'm sure, it would be a hell of a better choice than the d league

So now it's pronounced "pineapple vinegar"???

Ya it's not like the entire St. Mary's roster hasn't gone through the same thing. We're talking Australia here, not Mongolia. Shouldn't be too hard to get that part sorted out.

So, is Malou blowing off finals to get his NBA evaluation? Hopefully, he was able to make some arrangement and take exams early or online or something.

He probably has a good chance of being drafted, just because he is young and with tons of potential, physically and skills.
Via snapchat, he's back in Iowa.

Yea but isn't SMC on probation for something to do with foreign players? That could either make the lines a little blurry or maybe that could expedite Malou's situation.

The violations had nothing to do with the kids being "foreign" as far as I can tell. If the players were American they still would have been committing violations.

I don't know if this is a shot at me, but I actually tweeted to Bilas about it this morning and he said if he's mistreated like Diallo was then you'll absolutely hear about it from him.

The problem is, Malou's situation is different than Diallo. There was never a doubt about Diallo's playing clock.

Also, Jay Bilas had zero effect on the NCAA's decision.

Maybe not but he does bring it into the public spotlight if he feels the NCAA wronged a student athlete

They wouldn't have cared. It's obvious you were still in high school because you hadn't graduated yet. That's not how ones 5 to play 4 clock starts.

That's not correct. Doesn't matter if you graduate or not. Once you A). Leave HS and continue playing your sport for 1 year or B). You unroll full time in college. Sig didn't leave HS or continue running hence his clock started the moment he enrolled fulltime at ISU.

Honest question about this 'Clock' issue people are talking about with Malou. When I was in HS, as a Jr I was able to attend UNI for classes that were not offered at my HS and they counted toward both HS credits and GPA in addition to UNI Credits and GPA.

I took 3 credit hours my first semester as a JR, 3 credit hours my 2nd semester my Jr year, and then when I was a SR I took Humanities 1 & 2 first and second semester which were each 4 credit hour classes.

Does this mean that if I would have played sports in my college career, my clock would have 'started' when I was a Jr. in HS? I really don't understand this whole discussion as I don't think there is anyway that could be the case.

No you didn't enroll full time or leave HS.

I agree. Bilas would have little to no effect.

I disagree. Media had an impact with boucher. If he is going to play they will have to rule it was a situation out of his control or no fault of his own. He will have to be a victim since it's a deviation from there rules by the letter of the rule. Media gives them cover to do the right thing. If you guys don't think the ncaa isnt a reactionary body dictated by public opinion and the media you haven't been paying attention.

I think them reversing the ban on satellite football camps proves your point.
