#MacIrvinFire 6'7 G/F Justin Smith just pick offer from Iowa St. #IowaSt
I just noticed this in the 2017 basketball recruiting thread. Isn't this the name of somebody that posts in here? Whoddathunk that an actual bb recruit was given the password to post in our little secret society.

question for running peoples - this is my running schedule the last couple weeks:

Saturday the 9th - 4 miles
Thursday the 14th - 2.75 miles
Tuesday the 19th - 4.5 miles

weekend work and evening events have kept me from running as much as I would like. So now the 5 mile race is this Saturday. I have not run since Tuesday. Tuesday's run my ankle started hurting just over 2 miles which is an improvement from it starting at like 1.5. So the extra time off seemed to help that. That was also my fastest pace over 3 miles since staring back up.

I had hoped to get 5 miles in over the weekend but no luck. At this point I'm thinking I could skip gym today and run 5 miles or I could maybe get in a couple miles Thursday. My question is am I better off at this point not trying to run and just waiting until Saturday, or should I try to get more mileage in by the weekend? 11 days between runs seems like a lot but my last break seemed to help both speed and ankle.
I'd get out and do a couple of runs this week. M/W or T/Th. Nothing long and nothing at race speed. Perhaps 2-3 miles each at conversational pace. It all depends on how your training has been so far. You'll definitely want to get out and run before your race this weekend though.

my "training" started in mid-March, didn't run much over the winter, 3 miles was about my top last summer. Ramped up a little too fast and have been dealing with right ankle soreness over 1.5-2 miles the past few weeks. Longer breaks do improve that. Do wear a brace now and ice it when I'm done. Starting pace was like over 13 and last Tuesday I was at 10:40 so that has improved nicely.

Got me wondering if I should skip the gym today to run instead and then do mulching. That seems to work my abs and arms pretty well.
My biggest concern is not tired legs but that I'll get a mile in on Saturday and my ankle starts to hurt. It's not unbearable but I want to get as far in as I can before that happens. I could try for 3 today and just stop when it starts to get sore. Then try for 2 Thursday.

Get DH to run with you. That way if your ankle hurts he can just carry you.

lolz, DH hates running. Probably because he only does so for like 10 minutes on a treadmill at the gym. There's pretty much no workout that I love, but I'd probably pick 30 minutes of running outside before I'd do 10 on a treadmill.

So other friends are doing this run as well. One of the wives likes running as much as DH so they said they're only going to be in attendance so they can go to brunch afterward. Well, and also to cheer on their spouses.

I think. They may be turds who are just going to go eat while we run.

I tried running for a while. I would run until I couldn't stand it anymore and then push myself to go 30 minutes more.

That way I would get a 31 minute run.

I'd aim for 3 today at conversational pace and see how that goes. I would probably skip the gym tonight too.

No need. I'm sure WDSM is nearby ready to pounce and take her back to his tree.

Severe Thunderstorm Watch!

Speaking of weather. Tomorrow is the 25th anniversary of the Andover, Kansas tornado. Here is a video that was taken just over a mile from where we lived in Andover. From about 4:30-5:30 it moves over a trailer park and kills something like 17 people and then moves through a field that would become our neighborhood (12 years later).

Oh and they are back in the bullseye tomorrow.

I don't recall ever having seen that video before. Intense stuff.

this is pretty much how I operate.

Blah, it's like 74 and humid today. This is cleavage sweat drowning bugs kinda weather. Also, why does running in shorts suck? Why can't they just stay put? Not only do they ride up your legs, the waistband rides up too and it's like I'm trying to run in shorts from the 90's that were up to your armpits.

Yeah. There are some other good ones on YouTube from it. One of which is from the dash cam of a cop driving through that trailer park trying to warn people and they are just milling about and one guy is just walking his dog. That was 7 minutes before it hit.

You could always try the Bare to Breakers run in San Fran
