Well, the good news is that, if it installs correctly, Windows 10 is really nice.
It worked ok for me. Worst part was I got called from work and couldn't open a remote desktop from home so I had to drive into the office. It had something to do with Edge. It works if I use IE

I'm with you on this. If it weren't for these drop-ins I would have never known that Mark Ruffalo was up for an Oscar or, for that matter, that he did anything besides being The Hulk.

Edge is terrible.

Really, at home I'm seriously considering ditching windows completely for chromeOS in the long term. I have a laptop with windows 10 (upgraded from 7), and that's okay, but I really don't do much other than internet stuff. I have an HP stream mini that I bought for streaming, it's a little windows 8 small form factor desktop, which I've upgraded to windows 10, and I have a chromebox in another room for streaming. The chromebox kicks the HP's behind for streaming. I have to restart the windows 10 box about every time and then it still buffers like a mofo. I've already had to do a reset of win10 on it.

Edge is terrible.

The only browser I will ever use is chrome
I generally do the same but there are a couple of things that don't work well with Chrome. When my wife sends in pictures using Shutteryfly, it just doesn't complete the order. Also, there are certain work applications that just don't work correctly. When these don't work, IE does tend to work.

Edge never works for anything.

I managed to install Chrome at work even though we are not supposed to be able to install anything. I still have to use IE9 for some work stuff. They are "fixin' to*" upgrade to 10.

At home our computer came with Edge and I quickly installed Chrome. Mrs. Velo still uses Edge despite serious problems like not being able to type in some fields while using it. This is a problem when you can't type in the body of an email you are drafting. She doesn't like Chrome but I have no idea why.#

*I'm using that term they way they do down in Texas meaning they really haven't done anything yet but they are kind of thinking about it. I'm sure KC, Goat and a few others can confirm.

#To be fair to her, she has told me why: "Because I don't like it."

Almost universally, this is the one Texas term that my friends that have moved to Texas don't like to use that they do use. They love using "y'all" and appreciate knowing the difference between "Come and get it" and "Come and take it" but just don't like the fact they picked up the term "fixin' to".

I'm fixin' to just means "I'll get to it someday, just not any time soon". You would think it means "right away", but I've never seen it work that way.

Yup!

And Velo, all y'all damn yankees got no bidness* using our Southren* words! ;)

*phonetically spelled...

I'll take Texas-speak over Missouri-speak any day. When someone tells me that something is plum over yonder I just shake my head. I never knew a fruit was a unit of distance.

A friend (that grew up on a farm in Iowa) from college says that a girlfriend in high school once broke up with him because she didn't know that the term pertinear meant (clearly, it means pretty near).

We had a HP Touchsmart all-in-one at home that my wife used years ago when she worked from home (we purchased it on 2011). Once she started working at the university she started using her laptop instead and no one used that computer anymore. It pretty much hadn't been used since like 2013-14 or so. I asked her why she didn't use it anymore and she said it was too slow now and she needed to take her work with her on her laptop when she went to work.

Last weekend, I decided to upgrade it to Windows 10, do a nice system cleanup of all the junk applications, and loaded a bunch of games that would work great on a large touchscreen (Fruit Ninja, Crossy Road, Zinga Poker, Bejeweled, etc). Also added Sling TV and brought it downstairs to the kitchen. Now my son and wife are constantly fighting to use it. She claims it is much faster and started doing her work from there. I've barely had a chance to use it now.

Install a bunch of adware. That will show them!
