Everything Jakolby Long thread

Long and Young both look super impressive. Hopefully they can contribute right away.

They will both be very important by 2017, IMO. Hope Lard makes it because those 3 will likely form the foundation for the Prohm era.

This is very true. They are all presumably 4 year guys, maybe 3 year if one were to blow up, but hopefully they can be good enough to build around.

He was but he definitely didn't pass the eyeball test.

At least with Long, Young and Lard, you know that their bodies will never hold them back.
Yeah, Custer's timing was horrible too. He showed up right after Monte and then get mono at the start of the season.

Custer and Noskowiak were 140 and 145 composite, respectively. Long is 150, but it doesn't matter if they aren't here.

Our team next year will get pole-axed by Kentucky. We will have a bubble team at best. This was the year to get Kentucky although A&M will be a great test.

ISU will win more games next year. Bubble team? No way.

Wow, I want to believe you, but without Niang that would be tough to do IMO.

Not sure about win record, but we will be a guard strong team with post players who have a strong offensive game including a full 5 with higher 3pt percentages. The depth of the bench will aid better defense. May be pretty good.

More in general or more than this past year?

More than past year regular season. Three reasons. 1). Better defense. Can't get much lower than -175 defense efficiency 2). Depth. Twice as deep as last season 3). Returning seniors + leadership. - best, or one of best, back courts in the country. Also IMO the incoming class is outstanding. They are tailor made for this back court. I'm calling it a +25 game win season.

I hope you are right but.......

4) No Niang

True including
5) No Melvin Ejim
6) No Royce White
7) No DeAndre Kane
....

No doubt the team will have a vastly different personality and may not run smoothly at the start, but it can still be good. I do expect a rough start to the season however.

I'll bet first taker we won't win more games. $100 or less. I do agree that we will not be a bubble team.

Not worth it for me to take a fellow Cyclone fans money. I think we win more games next year however.

1.) We play Drake not UNI (+1game)
2.) We lost two games in Hilton (+1 game)
3.) The Big 12 won't be as talented (+1 game)
4.) We didn't have one conference road win vs a tournament team: @KU @OU @WVU @Baylor @Texas @Texas Tech. I don't see this happening again (+1 game).

If you go back and look at our year, yes, we had a few big wins (KU, OU, Iowa, @ Cincy) but for the most part we lost more of the 50/50 games than we won.

Let's wait and see what Malou Bowie Jackson and the freshman have to offer. If one of them is a big time player I think we win more.

While I agree with most of what you're saying we play Iowa on the road, our Thanksgiving tournament will be tougher than the one we played last year, and you can't bank on beating Kansas at home.
