UW-Milwaukee fires coach

"• Milwaukee somewhat surprisingly fired 11-year coach Rob Jeter after a 20-win season – his fifth 20-win year, but he’s led the Panthers to the NCAA tournament only twice. That led to some backlash directed at athletic director Amanda Braun – particularly from Wisconsin Sen. Lena Taylor, who verbally challenged Braun during a news conference to discuss Jeter’s dismissal. One candidate for the job is Milwaukee native T.J. Otzelberger, an Iowa State assistant, but sources said the school intends to cast a wide net in its search."

Firing 20 win coaches in BB is like firing 8 win coaches in FB. You reap what you sow, and if you do that kind of stuff you don't deserve much.

Jeter only had 1 year left on his contract. Very surprised they fired him given his success and the problems they are facing. Just ride next year out and don't renew your coach.

Letting a coach finish his contract kills recruiting and your top returning players tend to transfer leaving the cupboards bare.

Until someone posts an authentic source, I will assume TJ to UW Milwaukee rumors from Goodman and ESPN are all coming from Cyclone Fanatic forums.

Goodman hasn't mentioned TJ's name in connection with that job recently. In fact, it sounds like the Cal assistant will get it.

TJ seems like the logical choice with all of his Milwaukee connections but doesn't look like it will happen. Or if he even interviewed.

One bullet dodged, Otz watch.

Clearly TJ is staying as I'm sure JP promised him the HC job when CFH leaves for the Bulls.... Oh wait, you mean that didn't happen?

TJ will get a shot soon enough, one that is better than SDSU.

SDSU is a pretty good job at that level. I'm not saying he won't get a better one but that's the job I could see him actually being interested in with a viable shot at being a candidate.
