Emmanuel Malou thread

Any reason why? Just to get closer to Ames?

Per the article Travis did when he signed, his living situation out there is crap. Living in Iowa is obviously cheaper than California so thats one plus. And as you said, being closer to Ames and being able to hang out with team is probably another huge advantage. Lastly, maybe he'll need a summer class or two to become eligible in the fall and if he's at DMACC he can still play Cap City this summer.

From Alex Halsted:

Iowa State JUCO PF signee Emmanuel Malou confirms he will transfer to DMACC and should arrive next week. First reported by @TravisHines21.

Malou's 2015-16 JUCO season will be over with the transfer.

Hines: ISU signee Emmanuel Malou to transfer to DMACC, where he will not play basketball, to concentrate on academics

He doesn't really have anything left to prove, beating scrubs at Yuba.

He has to get a degree. That has yet to be proven.

There were already warning signs. It seems like this is a risky situation.

Then it is a good thing that he has decided to transfer in order to make sure he gets his degree, right?

PS: assuming that's why he transferred, which we don't know.

If he's at DMACC, Iowa St can make sure he passes his classes, and graduates. Much more difficult to do that when he's in California.

Reasons for transferring according to Alex Halsted 1) Way cheaper living in Iowa compared to Cali and easier access to Ames 2) He may need to take 1 or 2 classes this summer so he will be eligible for the fall and if he is taking those classes at DMACC he will still be able to play in the Cap City League. No need to overreact and think his eligibility is at risk for next fall or anything..

Probably true, but these types of moves usually don't seem to work, IMO.

Maybe, maybe not, but you can't argue that him moving within 20 minutes of his future school, is a bad thing.

Are you saying he would have a better chance graduating out in California, or are you just saying either way his chances of making it to Iowa St are not good?

I'm not saying it's a bad strategy, I'm saying this is signaling some serious eligibility question marks.

It is what it is, but they have to be somewhat significant for him to stop playing and abruptly transfer.
