Sit Monte until OU

Not giving up the ship, but really thought our depth was going to catch up to us sooner or later. We basically played with 6 guys tonight. Even in the Iowa game with Nader in foul trouble and tonight Georges. It was bound to happen even though many insist it isn't an issue. Everybody went on and on about Prohm inheriting such a good lineup. But the transition of coaches left us with not much bench support.

Oh goodie, we get Texas A&M in the SEC challenge who happens to be beating Baylor by 25 so far tonight. Schedule is pretty much brutal from here on out.

The reality is that 4 different top 10 teams went down today. Losses or wins are team losses and it was clear that neuroscience of success came into play in this panther win!!! They came to play, had a plan and executed to perfection. I believe Monte and team will bounce back. Failure can be a good thing and needs to be our teacher, not our undertaker. Let’s not forget that “talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships!”

I wonder if all of these other team's fanbases have the same freak-out that we do?

Iowa State has flaws. And they have the hard task of dealing with a new coach. Prohm has tried his best to be as easy going as Hoiberg was and we will all remember that easy going nature was fantastic, but it's not like his teams didn't lose to some ****** teams at times.

So we should just play him with one leg no matter what just because he is still better injured?

No, I said it wasn't a bad idea to sit him. Your idea though that anyone would be better than him is what I disagreed with.

And the melt downs were just as bad.

I didn't say anyone would be better. I said that getting a couple more guys a chance to get into the rotation for even 2 minutes would be good for the team. I was saying, how much could it hurt? It's not like our guys on the bench are so much worse than UNI's 8th guy off the bench. That way, maybe Monte can play at a higher level when he is in. There has to be a trade off somewhere. example: Of course Lebron is better than his backup but you have to rest Lebron so he can play at a higher level during the time he is in.

I'm sure all of the "depth is overrated" comments will come back to haunt us. That's the way the ball bounces for Cyclone fans.

Depth isnt overrated...but at some point you have the team you have and wishing for a bunch of different players is like saying "if we'd only made one more 3 we would have won the game". It's not like we had depth and then lost it or something negative happened like a criminal issue took our depth away.

losing a starter is a big deal.

losing a starter is a big deal.

Yes it is...and not many teams are going to have a guy that is sitting on the bench getting bench minutes able to step right in for a sr. Starter. Those kinds of guys go and start at other schools they don't bide their time as "depth" on a bench at a non blue blood school.

I know this isn't going to happen and I'll probably be in the minority but I'd sit him the two weeks leading up to OU. He's obviously being hampered by that hip and other various bumps and bruises.

His health the final three months of the season is much more important than two games in December, even if one of them is at Cincy.

By the way, what the hell did we ever do to have so many players with bad hips? I've never seen anything like this where multiple players are being bothered by the same injury.

Or, Prohm could just give him more rest during the game. Ashton and Carter really need to start getting more time. Spot time or something. The minutes our top six are logging is insane. Especially with the pace they play.

I don't know. I'm not that concerned about the loss to UNI. They were on fire, and played a really good game. Hats off to them.

I just get worried about the wear and tear over the long haul.

We need to be comfortably positioned in games for that to happen. Hasn't happened too often lately.

Is a hurt Monte still a better option than our 1 other option off the bench? I think so.

That's not the point. Carter and Ashton could come in and scrap for a minute or two in each half. We weren't playing Kansas the last couple of games.

I'd rather throw Ashton in there and tell him to play his *** off on defense for a few minutes against APBluff and UNI. If Ashton can't go out and scrap against unranked teams why in the heck is he on scholarship? Same with Carter? Seems like a waste to me.

they are on scholarship because our previous coaching staff didn't bother recruiting after montes class.

I'm not sure I buy Monte's health being an issue, but if he can't put up with more abuse than he has taken he's got 0 shot in the NBA.

again, it's not the normal crap he has always handled.

he is legit hurt right now. An actual injury. Not just beat up. HURT.

again, watching the games this is very obvious.

Well, if Ashton and Carter aren't capable of playing spot hustle minutes against unranked teams then we are in deep **** because the top 7 are going to wear down with their pace of play. Especially Monte if he's playing hurt.

Conserving energy by playing ****** defense is going to bite them in the *** big time.
