Blue Christmas is one of my favorite Christmas songs.

Also, it drives me nuts when Happy Xmas by John Lennon is played as a Christmas song. It's not a Christmas song. It's an anti-war song.
I suppose it isn't really a Christmas song. Still, it's pretty darn catchy.

Blue Christmas, Wonderful World of Christmas and Santa Claus is Back in Town get me singing really loud (on key, of course).

so speaking of mortgages, we rounded up on our monthly payment to the next hundred figuring we likely wouldn't notice the difference. And if we ever do, we can lower it back to the regular amount. After four months, it's already saved us more in interest than we've spent. Now, inflation will catch up on it, but I was like cool. And if we continue to do that plus a once a year principal payment, we knock just over five years off the loan.

good luck packing and moving, wxman. Is all the family helping out on Friday to burn off all the pie?

I have a coworker here closing in Dec and then moving.......she's a bit nervous about that with weather around here!

We were tripling the principal payment each month until insurance & property taxes (paid out of our escrow) went up so high that we couldn't afford that any more. Now we're paying 2x principal every month (along with the escrow & interest portions) and we're on track to have a 30 year paid of in a little under 15. It will be SUCH a relief! Good on you for knocking it back. :)

Sounds like Little Man stopped puking so Thanksgiving is on again in La Crosse. Have to run over to Byerly's and grab some sage dressing since that's the annual Uncle Boxster contribution to the turkey meal. Oh, and wine, Uncle Boxster always brings wine.

Then down to Iowa next week for a few days. Have tickets to the hoops game Tuesday night.
Glad to hear the he's feeling better. There's worse places to visit than La Crosse. A girl I used to date in high school lives there. Be sure to tell her I said Hi if you happen to see her.

I think we figured out that for us at the rate we got, we should put more into retirement than into the speeding up the mortgage, but we still wanted to knock a few years off.

Clearly I didn't know that netflix and chill meant hooking up....I'm too old for this.

Even though I, ancient mariner of RT, knew what this was you were not alone per this blog from Kate Levkoff.

OK, I admit it: for the last year or so, I thought I was doing "Netflix and Chill," when all I was doing was queueing up endless episodes of "Caillou" so that I could take a **** and/or have a totally silent "Falling Down" moment at a sink of two-day-old dishes.

Turns out, I was actually doing "Netflix and Children," which is a totally different thing. A totally different thing.

It is such a relief when that closing actually takes place. I would imagine you're anxious to get moved.

After this roller coaster year we are more than ready to be settled in our own permanent house. I was told last night that we are not moving again for a couple years.

We have some friends and my dad helping us. My mom is watching LittleWx and the dog and to my knowledge none of her family or my sister is helping which is probably a good thing.
