The bar closes at 9 in Bartlesville so I go to bed at 9:30. Going to bed at 9:30 means waking up at 5:30. Waking up at 5:30 means I wanna die.

like economically depressed place kinda sad?

Yea. Like everyone knows this place shouldn't exist. It is barely chugging along. A lot of the people talk about Houston which the company was moving HQ to but abruptly stopped. No one wants to go into details.

towns like that are always sad because anyone who had the means to leave has already done so.

Maybe with your free time you can get lots of working out in or read some good books when you aren't exploring Tulsa?

some of you people must have cordless drills, right? We need to get one to install blinds. Also probably for other stuff. DH is going to procrastinate on looking so I am going to help! He mentioned he wants one that has a battery that could be used on other tools? Is that a thing?

I did a little googling and I feel like I see DeWalt everywhere IRL.

any suggestions?

Not until tonight. PapaLew might have some. Me? I grab whatever is handy. :)

Yes. Most of the time you can find a grouping of cordless tools. Drill, impact, reciprocating saw, circular saw, etc.

I brought 3 books and finished all 3 already.

does the town have a library? You may be able to get a card with them and check out some books there. You need a hobby that's more portable than baking  Cross stitching is great for this but I doubt you are interested, hahaha

I feel like everyone who worked on our house had a DeWalt, that black and yellow is pretty ubiquitous. Good to know, I shall research further. I always forget we have a Consumer Reports subscription....for another couple months at least....useful for stuff like this.

My phone doesn't want to quote, but hubby has a DeWalt cordless with a lithium ion battery pack. I actually got him a drill/impact driver set for Christmas a couple years ago. Even I pull out the drill for small projects around the house, last used it to take bunk beds apart.

I go back to Dallas on the weekends so it isn't terrible. Flying out this evening. I'll bring more books or it might be finally time to buy a Kindle. But you're right, I do a more portable hobby.

DeWalt, Milwaukee or Makita if you are looking for a work or amateur carpenter drill. Probably overkill for just dinking around the house minor stuff. A cheaper grade Ryobi house brand at Home Depot is fine for light duty minor house maintenance repair.

Even if you have a more powerful pro-line kinda drill something like this small 9 volt is handy for the house.

That's not too bad then if you get to go home on weekends. Will you be doing lots of work like this? I know the tech guys at Epic travel all the time for clients. So a Kindle may be worth it if you will be doing that as well. If this is just a rare thing, maybe not.

And I'm probably the most old-fashioned person ever, but I like having the real book. When we went on vacation last year, half my suitcase was books.

I finally gave in a few years back and got the Kindle. I got the old style non-back lighted that was pretty easy on the eyes and easy to read in bright light. I used to get lots of shared books, hand me downs and pass arounds, but when my sis and BIL both went Kindle the pipeline of free books dried up so it was Kindle time. Added advantage of being able to select the font size is a plus. If my old man eyes get tired after hours of lazy vacation reading I can bump the size up one.
