Comparing Conference Networks

Interesting stats to use to see what a potential Big 12 Network might be worth.

A Big 12 Network could be carried throughout Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Iowa, and West Virginia, plus the Kansas City metro. All told, that's about 40 million people. Maybe Omaha or Pittsburgh too, but you're still right around 40mil.

On first glance, that doesn't look promising given the figures in that link. It would need some serious help to get carried more broadly like the SEC Network is in order to really rake in the cash.

Interesting the author thinks someone should buy the WWE Network and carry it. Like Vince McMahon would ever let someone else call the shots.

I hate having to pay for the SEC Network in order to get anything more than the basic sports channels just like I hate paying for the Big Ten Network as part of basic cable. I don't want to subsidize other conferences athletic departments for networks I never watch. I moved over to Sling TV and that got me off the Big Ten Network, but I'm still paying for an SEC network that I don't want and have no option of getting FS1 which I do want. Ala Carte is never going to happen but getting fed up and just streaming stuff is.

Agree with this post 100% and it drives me bonkers.

At the very least it would be nice if a major network or even a secondary network would pay Vince to pick up NXT every week.
