Okay, I had it a little jumbled. This guy is a journalist in Oakland, Ca, not from Baltimore. The story is still good, though.

In the aftermath of the riots in Baltimore last night, there are some positive stories that I wanted to share.
That first picture is a guy named Robert Valentine.
He’s a Vietnam Veteran.
And during the riots he risked his safety to try to keep the peace.
He was interviewed on CNN.
I loved what he said:
"I’m very ******.
I did 30 years, came out as a Master Sgt.
I’ve seen more than all this.
They need to have their butts at home, with their families studying and doing something with their life.
I love my country.
I love my city.
I’m an American.
I’m not black, white, red, yellow or nothing.
I am American."
There are a ton of positive comments about Valentine on Twitter.
Including these:
"my utmost respect goes to master sgt.
#robertvalentine for his stand against the
#baltimoreriots"
"god bless veteran #robertvalentine thank you for your service, sir. and for standing up to rioters!"
"while yall are catching up with the world today, make sure to google #robertvalentine the dude gets it
#prayforbaltimore"
"his is a hero. an american. a soldier.
standing up against lawlessness"
There are also reports that rival gang members came together with the Nation of Islam to try to keep the peace.
(Picture #2)
One of them named Trey is quoted as saying:
“If we can stick together doing something negative, then we can stick together doing something positive."
Another gang member said:
“We ain't out here for nobody to get hurt.
You got a Crip here, you got a Blood here... we don't want nobody to get hurt.”
“We stand as one right now.
We are not Bloods, Crips or BGF - we are black men and we are united.”
Early this morning volunteers were out cleaning up after the riots.
That third picture was tweeted out by Megan Pringle from WBAL-TV.
The caption says:
"This is jason butler. he showed up this morning to clean up a devastated neighborhood #baltimoreriots "
And the fourth picture was tweeted out by Aaron Gilchrist with the captain:
"Citizens cleaning up Baltimore. Rec and Parks crews now helping.
#Baltimore"
I read that more than 1000 people ended up volunteering to clean up Baltimore today.
I applaud each and every one of them.
My only hope is that they WON'T have to be out there again tomorrow morning.
