huh. I could swear some professors when I helped with payroll had accruals into the several hundred hour range. Guess I don't know how much two years would be though.

Ours is completely use it or lose it. Used to be accrue to 150% but that changed literally the week I started. Boo that.

odd similarity factoid...when my ex did his post-doc at K state, I worked in their payroll dept.

Our Realtor is now suggesting we drop the price a few thousand dollars. I would like to get it sold BUT I also want that money...

I'm probably not the right person to give advice since the only house I've ever had to sell was my MIL's, which went quickly.

I've often thought that I'd gladly concede a few grand to get out of possibly paying 2 mortgages. I've just seen too many people get locked into two mortgages because they couldn't sell, that I know I'd be really conservative when it comes time to sell my house. It only takes a few months going unsold on the market to equal $2000-$3000 when you factor in mortgage/taxes/utilities/miscellaneous. I guess it depends on the market and your individual situation.

Good luck either way

I have out Marvel Movie tickets for Saturday!!!!!!!!!!!! I have the babysitter set up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now I need to remember to plan lunch not only for Z, but the sitter. Confession: The first time I had a sitter watch Z over a meal time I totally didn't think about feeding her too. :(

Congrats on date night have fun!

Yeah. We won't be buying a new house for a couple more months at the earliest but would like to get rid of the payment and what not. Not to mention try and get it sold before the summer slow down in a month.

Errrgghhh....filling in for the manager tonight, and oops, have an external audit tomorrow, and something's not taken care of, and needs taken care of, so since I used to be the manager, I get to do it, and it'll take me most of the night, and oh, if you could do your other stuff too, that'd be great...kthx bai...

Thankfully, the other me here knows my sitch, and is helping a lot.

Had the details of who needed to be where/when worked out between hubby and me with multiple kid activities tonight until the 2yr old woke up from nap with a major fever. Total change of plans, and I have to miss oldest's band concert. And you realize the 2yr pretty much touches/spits on/coughs on/sneezes on/germs up every single thing in the house. Trying to keep te older 2 healthy with a trip to the Omaha Zoo for one on Thursday and both going to The Lion King Saturday.

Speaking of 2 year olds...our 2 YO's lunch consisted of a tablespoon of ketchup that he ate with a spoon. He's a suuuuper picky eater, and it's getting to the point where he is going to have to start eating more stuff or go hungry. So for lunch, he refused his steak, mashed potatoes, gravy, and corn, and ate the tablespoon of ketchup that we gave him to dip his steak in, and ate it with his spoon.

Yup...lays it on the line, doesn't he?

There's another one I came across earlier...there was an elderly black man out on the streets shouting at the looters, and the local news interviewed him. Turns out he was a Nam vet that spent over 30 years in the service. I can't remember exactly what he said, but it was pretty powerful from someone who was young in the civil rights era. I'll see if I can find it.

Okay, I had it a little jumbled. This guy is a journalist in Oakland, Ca, not from Baltimore. The story is still good, though.

In the aftermath of the riots in Baltimore last night, there are some positive stories that I wanted to share.

That first picture is a guy named Robert Valentine.
He’s a Vietnam Veteran.
And during the riots he risked his safety to try to keep the peace.
He was interviewed on CNN.
I loved what he said:
"I’m very ******.
I did 30 years, came out as a Master Sgt.
I’ve seen more than all this.
They need to have their butts at home, with their families studying and doing something with their life.
I love my country.
I love my city.
I’m an American.
I’m not black, white, red, yellow or nothing.
I am American."
There are a ton of positive comments about Valentine on Twitter.
Including these:
"my utmost respect goes to master sgt. ‪#‎robertvalentine‬ for his stand against the ‪#‎baltimoreriots‬"
"god bless veteran #robertvalentine thank you for your service, sir. and for standing up to rioters!"
"while yall are catching up with the world today, make sure to google #robertvalentine the dude gets it ‪#‎prayforbaltimore‬"
"his is a hero. an american. a soldier.
standing up against lawlessness"
There are also reports that rival gang members came together with the Nation of Islam to try to keep the peace.
(Picture #2)
One of them named Trey is quoted as saying:
“If we can stick together doing something negative, then we can stick together doing something positive."
Another gang member said:
“We ain't out here for nobody to get hurt.
You got a Crip here, you got a Blood here... we don't want nobody to get hurt.”
“We stand as one right now.
We are not Bloods, Crips or BGF - we are black men and we are united.”
Early this morning volunteers were out cleaning up after the riots.
That third picture was tweeted out by Megan Pringle from WBAL-TV.
The caption says:
"This is jason butler. he showed up this morning to clean up a devastated neighborhood #baltimoreriots "
And the fourth picture was tweeted out by Aaron Gilchrist with the captain:
"Citizens cleaning up Baltimore. Rec and Parks crews now helping. ‪#‎Baltimore‬"
I read that more than 1000 people ended up volunteering to clean up Baltimore today.
I applaud each and every one of them.
My only hope is that they WON'T have to be out there again tomorrow morning.

Just sent in my deposit to the University of Wisconsin. While I could end up going somewhere else, it looks like I'll be in Madison next year!
