Nick Babb

Nice.
A brother of Babb's is at least worthy of getting a visit to see how or if he would fit. A scrimmage with the team will tell as much about his development in the couple years as how much he played at Arkansas IMO. Never hurts to give a visit.

Now hold on one minute. You're comparing CB's sophomore year to NB's freshman year and that's why you're passing?

Chris Babb averaged 2.3 PPG his freshman year. His brother 0.7.

Chris had a whole year under his belt before he averaged 9 a game.

Come on now, don't be airheads.

Interesting. Apparently talented enough to get a scholarship on a high major team, and Arkansas had enough talent to explain a lack of minutes. Definitely a good bloodline, and if he has a similar drive to Chris, it could be a good calculated risk. Who knows where he could be after a year in the system? On the other hand, what Chris did for us merits at least a talk with his brother, so maybe that's it. Either way, Fed is a great evaluator of talent.

maybe he will walk on and his bro will pay his tution with his new contract?

joking

Nick would be a head scratcher, but I don't believe anything Randy Peterson says unless Williams or Hines can confirm it.

Not really, we've had two transfers have to pay their own way for a semester before, I don't see Fred just handing out a scholarship to have an extra body unless they have high upside. From everything Fred has shown in his recruiting strategy this doesn't add up is all I'm saying. He's been focusing on proven transfers, high level recruits or upside (Greek)
Supply and demand.

I'm saying we took in Chris after he was a proven commodity, I don't think we would have brought him in after his freshman year. Not saying Nick can't play or won't be good I'm just saying this is unusual for how Fred goes after transfers. I mean people were knocking Evan Payne who averaged 18 ppg because of his assist numbers. Since his brother played here this is a unique situation but I would be surprised to see him in a ISU uniform

We have 8 on scholarship right now and no walk-ons. I would say that in fact, we do need bodies.

I have a good feeling that will change in the next month with players people are excited about. We do have a walk on for next year in Wes Greder. Adding 3 players and banking a scholarship for a midyear guy will be ideal IMO.

Nick also played on a much better team with more talent than Chris did. He obviously wouldn't start here, but could be a decent role player and 'pusher' guy. Who knows?

Fred will play 8 guys, why does it matter who is on the end of the bench?

agreed. Also, of the 8 currently on scholarship, 4 of them will for sure be leaving after next year, with a decent possibility of 5. We definitely need bodies.
