NES Videogame Major Accomplishments

I beat Duck Hunt using a real gun

I beat Top Gun, Zelda, Super Mario Brothers without warping. Can't remember all the other games I had. I quit playing them after middle school.

I beat the time trial record for the Mario Circuit 1 track in the original Mario Kart that was published in an issue of Nintendo Power. At least that's how I remember it...

I beat Ninja Gaiden. I never knew it was such an accomplishment when I was a kid, until the Internet told me that it was one of the hardest NES games.

My cousin was pretty good when it came to video games. On Super Smash Bros on N64 he could beat 3 level 9 Links on the same team, and he could also beat both Luigi and Mario (also level 9) on the same team. He also could beat the game on very hard with one life.

Not a huge accomplishment, but I considered every victory against Shao Khan to be a relief. He was the cheapest b****** of all time. I hated fighting him because he fights so cheap, the only way to beat him is to also fight cheap and spam projectiles and use teleports, rather than use any skill you've accumulated while playing.

I didn't do anything crazy, just requested a new game from mommy and daddy. Plenty of games I haven't beat on SNES since I was four when we got it, but by the time the N64 came out I was capable of beating pretty much every game if it was interesting enough to get through. Now I must get all the achievements for games. 5* General on Halo 3 was probably my video game best, with 50's in Doubles, Slayer and Snipers. Spent too much life on that game.

I'll get in the way back machine. When I was maybe 11, I finished the Pitfall Game on the Atari 2600 with a perfect score (I think it was $114,000), without losing a life or any points. When I finished I literally put the Atari away, and never played another home gaming console until I bought my kids one 25 years later. Like George Costanza's Frogger high score it was the perfect combination of pizza grease and mountain dew. I didn't figure I could ever do better so why try.

I won a game at Madison, WI Super Tecmo Bowl tournament about 5 years ago. There were people from all over the country, it's pretty much the world series of Super Tecmo Bowl. (I did also lose two games, and never made it out of my bracket)

The only 2 NES games I had for the first year I owned the system were The Legend of Zelda and Mike Tyson's Punch Out. I was 2nd or 3rd grade at the time and eventually beat both games, I was the youngest in my neighborhood by a few years and had to show all the other kids how to beat those games. A kid who was much older, pry high school/middle school at the time didn't believe me about Zelda, he challenged me to show him and made a bet where the winner could pick any of the losers games to keep. I still have the copy of Metroid I won from him that day :)

Could land, refuel, and finish Top Gun. Figured out the shadow Link trick without the aid of Nintendo Power. TKO-d Tyson in the second round once with time to spare. Completed Metroid within the time limit of having Samus reveal herself without the complete suit.

I can beat Contra without losing a life.

I can beat Battletoads without cheats or warps.

I have also beat Ninja Gaiden 1 and 2, TMNT, and Punch Out without any cheats.

Battletoads was so frickin hard. Even with the game genie there was no way. That is impressive.
